| Yes they can eat them but it's more dangerous IMO than other bones. You may also find bone fragements in their poop, watch for it. If you do, it's probably too hard. I do know people that give weight bearing bones with no problem. It's beyond my personal comfort level. You might want to consider grinding if you want to feed them and worried about choking. |

I just did it--one day kibble, the next day raw. Maya was a bit unsure about whether she should really put that nasty chicken thigh in her mouth. The Sage swallowed hers, and still hasn't really gotten that chewing thing down.
We did chicken mostly for about a week. They had loose poos for about a day, then tiny normal ones. I then added in turkey necks, eggs, salmon, and beef as the second meal. So they eat chicken usually in the am and whatever I can find in the pm. I know it's not necessary, but for the sake of cheapness they get cottage cheese, some veggies, and yogurt a few times a week.
In the fall they're gonna get duck, geese and deer added!
Other things I noticed were that they were a bit sluggish for a few days--someone told me it was b/c they had to get used to digesting the food that's lower in carbs. Also they seemed hungrier--like maybe they thought they got a treat but their kibble was still due.

Also my problem is that Rocky will not eat any organs, if he even smells the smallest drop of it he walks away and he can go days without eating! |

Ah, we shoot them of course!  I'd say find a friend who hunts deer and hit them up for pieces and whatnots.
Sage also doesn't like organs. And eggshells are another thing I've found that she isn't a fan of. If I cook it she likes it better--might just be the texture she doesn't like.

| I used a pair of shears last night and cut up the bones, they ate them no sweat. I put a bi of liver in theirs, and they love it! |

LOL, could not have said it better! Yeah we are new to the area and i am having a problem finding smo that hunts so I can buy the whole deer from them.
Its so funny that you mentioned egg shell. I am having the same problem as well. He not only does not want the organs but he as well will not eat the egg shell. Once in a while though he decides he will eat a tiny bit of it. I will try cooking the organs and see if he will eat them.

That's great! I think eventually they will get used to chewing the bones better. |

Question about raw -
Do you guys cut up the meat? Or do you just toss it in the bowl? With some things I am cutting it up. But with the turkey necks, I hold it, and let them munch on it... Hemi just gulps it down. |

Chicken necks, turkey necks and turkey hearts I don't cut, but gizzards and turkey tails and anything that I think is a little too big, I do.
I'm not trying to frighten you, but Nena had a situation a couple years ago with a turkey tail...she got tired of chewing it and then I decided that
I should probably get it out of her mouth to cut it up...well, she swallowed it! WHOLE! 
She wasn't choking, but it was lodged and I had to give her the dog version of the Heimlich Maneuver! It did come out, but my husband was having a fit, yelling "why can't we feed normal dog food????"  |

Are you sure you weren't at my house last night? We had the exact same conversation. I was holding the turkey necks as they chomped away, and Hemi went after the whole thing (my hand included). He didn't mean to hurt me, he just took it too far. I yelled, Hemi jumped, and Joey said the same thing.
I got the "You are so strange. Who feeds raw?" speech. I told him to do the research then get back to me. 
I just have to seriously supervise them. |

| I had the same issue with Mali, it lasted a while actually, but now when i get tired of freezing Rocky's food or just feel like complaining i tell him "i think i am going to get a bag a kibble and feed it to him", Mali gets upset because he likes it so much now that Rocky is on raw. Its made a huge difference on his health, for the better! |

Ten days ago we switched Jag to raw.We started out using ground chicken,now everything is whole.He loves it! I puree raw vegetables to add to his food and he still gets yogart and some fruit as a snack. Jags favorite new snack is chicken feet.
I am already starting to see the difference in Jag since switching. His teeth are so white and no more gas(none). Jag used to gulp his kibble down now he actually enjoys his food and takes his time eating.He has lost a little bit of weight so I guess we will have to up the amount we are feeding him. I am so glad that I got up the courage to switch to raw. So far things are great. |
