| I started out feeding my boys Nutro. Zehen ate LB puppy, and Dooley at Lite. Z was eatting 8 cups a day to keep his weight up, and it made him poop an incredible amount. I noticed that he poop seemed "grainy" (sorry for the graphic description). I heard about Taste of the wild from my neighbor who has a Golden Retriever. It had the added protein and fat that I thought would keep Z's weight up so I could cut back his food. I recently swiched all the guys over, and Z is keeping his weight eating 2 1/2 cups twice a day. However he has had a little diarrhea on and off since switching the food. He's holding his weight (and still growing like a weed), and seems happy and healthy. Has anyone else had trouble with Taste of the wild causing runny poo? Does anyone recommend another food over TOTW? |

I had quite a few sample bags of Taste/Wild I was feeding Ace for awhile. (all the flavors) and he really really liked this food. He seemed very enthusiastic to eat it, which was fabulous. I have heard that it's an excellent food and the ingredients seem high quality, which is very important to me. However, Ace's poo was very soft when he was on this, so I never actually bought a full bag. (Thinking back though, maybe I didn't give it the proper amount of time for adjustment. It can take some dogs longer to get adjusted to new foods)
I'm giving him Canidae All Life Stages right now and the poops are awesome! Solid and easy to scoop!
He seems to enjoy eating the Canidae but honestly, I think he liked the taste of Taste/Wild better.
I plan on rotating between a few different foods and will probably try to put the Taste of the Wild food in the rotation.
Unfortunately, all dogs are different and you will probably have to expirament with foods to see what works best. Because I want to keep Ace on a rotating diet, I'm constantly expirimenting also...
Keep in mind that Taste/Wild is a very high protein food, it may be too rich for your pup's system right now....... |
