I just thought of this tonight when i was feeding Wilson that i might not be feeding him the right food for his age. He is 7 months old and i am feeding him California Natural. My problem is that i dont know if i should be still feeding him a puppy formula or if its ok to be feeding him this. I dont want mess him up by not giving him the right amount of vitamins, protein and so on. Any advice please...

A lot of people don't ever feed puppy formula. I was off puppy food at 6 months.

I don't feed puppy food either, there are some food I wouldn't feed a puppy though. I'm not familiar with California Natural. At 7 months you're probably alright but if he doesn't have a sensitive stomach it wouldn't hurt to switch his diet up once in a while to give him a good variety.

From reading these forums, and asking around, it seems California Natural and that Canidae brand are popular with folks and their dogs. I almost bought a bag of canidae yesterday, but I am waiting to talk with the vet to find out what ole Blue's health status looks like and going from there.

Just a thought, but I wouldn't necessarily listen to your vet as far as food goes. Canidae and California Natural are both fabulous foods. I would almost bet you money that he would recommend Science Diet or Iams because they are the companies that supply a lot of prescription foods. It's like a doctor recommending certain brands of drugs...
My vet recommended Hills W/D as a high-fiber diet for my dog. Too bad it's probably about 80% CORN!!! Total crap. I'm just saying that you should probably listen to what your vet says, but it's not law. |
