Blue and June spent the night in bed with us... well Blue kicked CHris out around 3 or 4 am...
We also think Blue wet the bed at some point when I got up to shower...And He threw up again when let out to go. He ate some grass and vomitted. So needless to say, we still have to watch for pancreatitis now.
June seems ok, though she pooped pout a LOT of the wrappers today. Blue did too, last night... I found 2 crimps!
Today Chris goes in to work @12, so they will be alone til I get home around 630.
We go on vacation Sat (w/ them) so we will most likely stop into the er vet for a quick check b4 we leave.
Getting better each day, slowly getting out of the woods |

I recently went thru pancreatitis with my parents dogs (I was babysitting) ... i don't even know what set it off, but the vet felt it had probably been "smoldering" for some time.
This is what transpired:
Lack of appetite and acting lethargic (on a Sunday). That night she projectile vomited, which was new. She was up vomiting all night ... just a little and somewhat foamy... towards the morning I noticed flecks of blood, I was calling the vet when she started the diarrhea. It was very, very loose.... we were on our way out the door to the vet when she puked pure blood.
Keep in mind nothing obvious set this off and this dog is known for her garbage gut (so it didn't seem that out of character, the initial lethargy and vomiting)... the blood, that was clearly not good.
I wouldn't feed them at all, if it is pancreatitis they will be vomiting a lot, very often, you should start to see blood. Get them to the vet ASAP. The vet told me to take her off food and water, they gave her subcues and an antibiotic shot while we waited for the lab results. Then we admitted her for 3 days.
I have my fingers crossed for you guys... pancreatitis is very, very serious, I didn't realize to what extent until I went thru it, Missy almost didn't make it. I hope that your kids will be fine... I have you all in my thoughts. |

Thanks for the pancreatitis info. We lost our non-Weim to it, too so we are very nervous and have been watching them like hawks.
So far, they seem to be ok. Blue actually seems less slouchy and more spry! He has vomited a little yellow foam/bile (1/4C) each morning, but I truly believe it's cause he's HUNGRY. I've been giving them each about 1/2C plain rice and maybe the same amt of shredded bolied chicken cutlet. They've been pooping ok (no runs). I also gave them their HW tablet today. I probably should have waited another few days, but we are going away tomorrow w/ them and I don't want to take any chances w/ mosquitos. We may pop into the er vet just as a last check on them before we head down the pike.
thanks again to EVERYONE for the thoughts, prayers and support! |
