When people come up to you and go:
"What kind of dog is that?"
And when you answer that it's a Weimaraner, they go:
"Oh I love those dogs!"
Really. You love them so much you can't identify one?
Crazy *bum* people.
I don't know why it irks me, but it does. Maybe because I always have this fear that Slade's cuteness will make them run out and get an ill-bred mill puppy, who will be destined to a horrible life in the hands of someone who couldn't even appropriately identify a breed they "love", let alone educate themselves on its needs?

| I guess I usually assume that they just have trouble remembering the breed name, but it's managing to come out wrong. There are some breeds that I love the look of, but would have no idea what they're called - either because I've never looked it up, or just cannot remember .. |

I think you should just start telling them, "He's a chihuahua" or "Slade is poodle" or some other breed he is obviously not. Sure, you won't make any friends, but who needs friends when you have a weim? |

HERE, where I live, a little country called Portugal there are a few weims around.
I own Gandalf for more than a month now and there where only ONE person that approached me near home) telling me "Look a Weimaraner Puppy"!! I didn't even believe he actually knew the breed!
Then she explained her sister own a 1 yo weim, not trained in a house nearby. perhaps today I'll come and visit him, Shake is his name!
I must say I suspect Shake wasn't luck since their owners bought him to give his 4 yo kid as birthday present. they own a house and keep him on the backyard with their other dog!
So I guess this dog doesn't have their needed exercise! I suspect, according to the sister, he was bought from a walk to the mall!
"So cute.. I bet the kid will love him! He's grow.. look his paws!!! what a !hell.. we have a yard...!!" I hate this!!!

A Weima-whater?
Seriously funny! I've heard some dooozies just in the past week alone!
"Oooo - what a nice looking chocolate lab" (huh?)
"Look honey, it's one of those blue heelers!" (not even close!)
"That chocolate lab sure is a neat color of grey." (yes, he's the rare "gun metal grey" lab)
"Is that a green dog??" (no genius, it's just the reflection of the grass on his shiny coat)
"Nice color of dog. Is he neutered?" (No - once he is, his coat will change. *bangs head on wall*) |

I love it!
A couple months back at a NAVHDA training event, a couple guys and us decided that Luna was "one of them giant pointing chihuahuas" |

I've started to tell people that he's a Tennessee Leg Hound.
(anyone who has seen Christmas Vacation will get that one) |

Yesterday I went to vet to chip Gandalf.
Waiting, approaches a lady and says "oh I miss my baby this little" They're so beautiful".
I say "hum?" Do you know the breed?
She says she owns a bitch with 1yo. I got convinced she knew weims and own one! Then she says "they're heath problem and they get huge". then adds "my bitch weights "150lbs"... I wonder which weim can weight that much!
Then she adds "this colour is not usual... "
Then she went to pick up a great dane!! hehehe
what a hell?!?! |

I was walking Lexi the other day and a neighbor stopped me and asked what she was. I told her she's a weim, but she's a blue weim. I started to explain that they are usually silver/grey but she cut me off and said "Oh yes, I already know all about the silver and red weims, but I had never seen a grey one ". Okay lady, I just told you she's blue. And Red? Sure... you know all about vislas, huh? |

| I think the 2 best things that our weims have been called is a Blue Doberman and a grey lab!!! Common people just ask us and we will be more than happy to tell you. Don't try to guess |

It still gets me when we get chocolate lab...and they are soooo possitive about it, like I'm going to change the breed of my dog to suit them. I told someone the other day...'they're Weimaraners".., he kept saying...'that's some kind of lab mix, right?'...No, Weimaraners, ,,,,,..
OH, lab-araners, is that it? ..noooo, Weim..a..raners... so I gave up.
Next time...NO, THEY'RE POODLES. SHAVED POODLES. |

All I can say is AMEN!
I swear - everywhere we go... I do love the fact that everyone loves them. But the way people look at us, you'd think I had a purple dinosaur on a leash!
I heard people whispering at the park yesterday saying... "Wee-Winers, Weim-riders..." I wanted to yell WHY-MER-RINE-ERS!
Some lady in the vets last week said a similar thing to me... Oh, I love those dogs, do they usually stay that small? Chevy is 66lbs. She thought she was a great dane.
