So now that Slade is 3 months old, has all his shots, and is too heavy to be socialized from my arms anymore, I decided to introduce him to his first sensory overload from the ground last night. (He's been doing a lot and meeting new dogs, but this is his first "event").

I took him to a waterfront Canada Day festival last night, and he was a STAR.

There were literally THOUSANDS of people everywhere, live bands, sparklers and noisemakers, vendors every ten feet, and a full-blown midway.

He greeted everyone he met very boldy but politely, is an absolutely kissy-faced gentle love-muffin with EVERY child he meets, and didn't try to act like a goof with any of the dogs he met. He even met his first "non-family" Weim, a stunning 6 month old boy named Lucas. Lucas was a very very hyper and bouncy Weim, LOL, but not aggressive in the least. They had a blast playing together.

When we walked the boardwalk, there were so many people, that you were being touched on all sides, and you were moving only a few feet at a time. Slade took it all in stride, and just powered through; looking around, and sniffing everything around him. I did end up picking him up just before we got to a less crowded path, but not because he was distressed. I just feared he my get stepped on because it was getting pretty insane.

He absolutely took everything in stride and was fabulous, so we left while he was still having fun. All in all, a wonderful experience for him I think.

He makes me so proud sometimes. Whenever I expect him to act like a "typical puppy", he shows me up by being a complete star. Very Happy

OOH what a good boy!! Heart Slade Heart

To this day, Luna would be very uncomfortable in that kind of situation... she's never had any bad experiences, she's just a very nervous girl.

that's great.. you should be very proud of slade!! Well done little big man!
I've taken Ruby for a walk down the main street of my home town and everyone was always coming at her for cuddles and pats, she didn't even flinch or mouth at the strangers. We had one dude taking photos of her at one stage.
They are superstars, your right!!

You should be able to click on anyone else's "gallery" button to get to the photo section. There will be a "your album" button on the top right, or you may be able to add photos directly from the left hand menu where it says "add items".

It takes a bit to get the hang of it, but it's not so bad after that. Very Happy

Yeah, Slade! When I took Sadie in the Christmas Parade last year it took her about 20 minutes to stop freaking out! She wanted her head in everything and that was after a year of training and getting her used to those types of scenarios. I'm glad that Slade is doing so awesome.
