I found this website and thought it was a straight forward explanation, plus had a lot of links for more info. I would strongly suggest that everyone do some research of veterinary surgeons in your area find the best available. They may not be your regular vet, but if there is a facility with board certified surgeons I would call them and ask if they have a bloat or GDV protocol and what is their policy regarding non-client emergency surgeries. You want a hospital that is prepared not just to do the surgery, but to potentially treat the DIC and any other complications associated. What I recall is that the more aggressive the treatment the higher the survival rate. Go visit the hospital talk with them explain your concerns.


I have not been as diligent with Wilson as I should be. I need to take my own advice and be prepared.
