| Sam and Bullet don't like a crate at all they will start running side to side until they roll it over and they do this all the time. So the very seldom get crated. But they are good when we are gone to work it is at night while we sleep that we have problems they have eaten the couch the TV remote an lots of shoes But we love them and are now covering the couch with a blanket. |

I feel every ones pain! Jake would destroy his cage. And I know from my previous Weim, not to trust them alone in the house! I finally had to move him outside while we are gone. He has a fenced in yard now $$$$ and a big cage for those rainy days with all the modern conveniences $$$ and a totally worthless dog house. I saw the dog house post after the fact. He has already pulled the outdoor carpet up once so it was back to the hardware store for super duty liquid nail. $$ I might move in myself or get forced to!

Don't feel too bad I should have snapped pictures but its too painful I came home on a lunch break from work to find the carpet ripped from the front room to the kitchen and then the carpet in the hallway was completely shredded!!! Not to mention the blinds were shredded oh and don't leave your toaster plugged in He melted the bread to the brand new stainless still toaster all in a matter of a couple hours!!!! But with all the destruction you still can't find a better loyal loving dog than a Weim. They are not dogs in there minds they are one of us and want to be treated as such!! HAhaha! Definitely one of a kind breed for sure. I am so sorry about your home. |

Wilderaner, where does Jake use the bathroom when you're gone? Does he go on the fake grass? I ended up making a 6'x12' kennel for Zane when he's not at Doggy Day Care and it's going OK, but it will soon be too hot to leave him out there so I have to figure something else out pretty fast. I love my house and these pictures of destruction terrify me!!!
Doubletrouble-that is amazing. Those pictures of the chains and locks make me laugh out loud every time! What a little s@$&! You know he's secretly gloating and daring you to just try and keep him in a crate! You have to post a video once you catch them in the act. Zane has the same black crate. The worst he does is grab the door in his mouth and shake it furiously until I open it when I oversleep and he has to use the bathroom! I guess I better not let him see the video when you post it! |

| Jake has only made a deposit in the pen once! That was my fault. Before i go to work we get up and he usually does his business. As i said he only gets locked up on rainy days because he will not go in there by himself as far as i know because i have never witnessed him in there when i came home when we have rain. He is always sitting at the edge of the fence waiting for one of us to get home. The good thing about the pen is the indoor outdoor carpet, if he does #2 it is easy to get up and although he may have stepped in it, no problem. I just clean him up, and i can take the hose in with some soap and spray it down. When i know it is going to be a clear day i just leave the door open and he will go in there for his food and water and to get out of the sun. I spent alot of time and money to get this set up, and I'm sure i will still be adding to it. I just wish he would go in it on his own during the rain. Before we fenced the yard this is all we had and it was not bad. Then i lined the bottom with concrete and knew this would be hard on his feet so i installed the indoor outdoor carpet. Jake spends 85% of his time indoors with us. I hate to leave him outside but there are times it must be done. It works well and if you are thinking of such a kennel be prepared to make it comfortable for your pet especially if they are used to being indoor. They may not like it but it is better then leaving them out in the elements while your away! I am by far no expert, but i have tried to create shade for him and shelter from the rain. I know it is not like being the house but there are times when he must be outside by himself. |

| LOL...love this thread. As I was setting up Lincoln's big-boy crate (still too big for him) I was thinking, this is way too easy to assemble, which means it will be easy to DIS-assemble! I'm going to buy some of those heavy duty zip ties before he realizes he can get out of it if he really tries! |

I almost pee'd my pants laughing when I saw the picture of the chained up crate.
We had a little houdini on our hands this weekend too. We went to the movies on Saturday afternoon and came home to an excited boy with a wagging tail AT THE DOOR! When we opened the door we heard him jump down from the couch and around the corner he came to greet us. We were all in shock because he had been securely closed in his crate before we left. Or so we thought.
He is still in the enclosed plastic crate and so there is no opening that he could slip through. We automatically assumed that one of the posts must not have gone through the hole properly but when we tried to recreate that, it was VERY difficult to get that door open. So, either we didn't latch it at all or he's VERY slippery!
I think he took mercy on us though and gave us our one free pass because NOTHING was touched. There was no pee, no poo, nothing was chewed or ripped apart. He must have just simply curled up on the couch and waited for us to come home.
What a doll.... but I still don't trust him! |
