I just picked up Ruby from the vet. My poor baby I just want to cry for her. She's come home and sounds really chesty - by that I mean like she has some congestion. She's coughing a bit as well.
I want to look back on this video one day and think "what a silly time that was, when you gave your ma a good old scare!"
I hope a good nights sleep at home in her own bed will do her the world of good.

That looks all too familiar. Sad

She looks just like Holly did when she had her flare ups.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through that. It's so scary when they are that sick. I hope she gets better soon.

It's definately HOD.
I'm pretty sure it's kennel cough she's picked up again - she had a couple of weeks back, but cleared up itself.
They've sent her home on Vibravet - which is antibiotic which also has anti-inflammatory properties. He hasn't given her any pain meds, he told me he was. My vet got a bit funny when I started suggesting different meds that have been suggested to me. No Cortisone - it's apparently contraindicated in dogs with HOD. No Derramaxx or Fentanyl. He thinks that if we give her pain meds she's going to return to normal super dog, run around and cause a heap more pain/damage to her joints causing further problems. The best thing we can do for her is to keep her still, not let her run around for the next week. The way she is at the moment, that won't be very hard at all. She's also on other anti-inflammatory stuff as well.
He goes on holidays for 2 weeks now, he said we can wait a week to have surgery providing everything has returned to normal or just wait until he's back from his hols.

Poor Ruby. Your video makes me so sad for her and for you. Jazz had very bad kennel cough when she first came here. Your video reminds me of how Jazz looked. I know it's so difficult when this babies are sick or in pain to see them this way.

Well, I am fairly new to Weims and have never encountered HOD, but Ruby looks so sad, I know it must be difficult for you.

I hope that Ruby is feeling better very soon...

She had some dinner tonight, which I'm really happy about. I cooked her up some yummy chicken mince. We've broken every rule now we had ever set for Ruby. I have been laying with her on the couch, on the bed. I don't care anymore, having a clean couch doesn't seem as important as just snuggling up together.

It often amazes me the love and devotion some humans have for their pets. Weims seem to epitomize unconditional love.
I wish I had the same relationship with other humans that I do with the "Girl and the Gun"!

I can't watch the video until I get home...It will break my heart so see her so sad. Ange, call another vet. It's ridiculous to let her suffer. She will not be superdog...she just needs a dose to keep her comfortable and able to cope.

25 MG of derramaxx every 8 hours was what got Scout through. He weighed about 40 lbs. I also fed him weight management food to keep his weight down so that when he did walk it would be easier on his joints.

If you would like, I will send you some derramaxx. Scout has an ongoing prescription for it and we only give it as needed.

I am glad she is not getting the cortisone.

This video made me cry - you're being very strong for your Ruby, right when she needs you the most. Stay strong and you'll both get it through it...you've got lots of weim addicts here to support you and pray for little Ruby.

...all the best from me and Linc
