side note: What a horrific horrific thing to be involved in with those axe murders! Good Lord, some people are just sick.I hope are able to clear those visions from your mind when you need to sleep!
Keep us posted when you can about Ruby... we're all in this together for you! |
as a nurse, i know what being involved in something tragic does to you for a couple of days.. if you have grief counselors at work, you might want to check in.. especially since you are under so much stress already.. |

| Our little pack is pulling for you and Ruby! You are an inspiration. You have had to deal with so much! You have been such a great Mom to Ruby! We are sorry you are going through so much with her and with your work! This makes our problems seem so insignificant. |

Ruby is doing better today. He temp has come down and she's eating a bit more. I've spoken to Marg who has been incredibly helpful providing me with numbers and contacts of people who are very experienced with Weimaraners. I'll definately be getting in contact with them.
I'm hoping she's coming home today. The vet said I was welcome to come up and spend some time with her today which I'll make my way up there in a while.
thanks again, everyone. I'd go mental if I didn't have this forum. |

I'm glad to hear that she's doing better today. And that you know have some Weim knowledgeable people to help out with what is going on and with her treatment and recovery.
Sending more good thought that Ruby continues to feel better, and that you do as well. |

That's so good to hear. It is so scary when our babies are not well. I hope this will be her last episode. She's been through enough already.
Lynn, at what age did Scout stop having flare ups? Even in the most sever cases do they stop having the lethargy and high fevers when they are done growing? |

| Ask the vet for some Derramaxx for her. It is a doggie NSAID. It was a life saver for Scout. It didn't take all the discomfort away, but it kept him comfortable enough to cope. And that's all you want. You want her to rest her joints so it's o.k. that she does not want to run around. But you want her to be comfortable enough so that she does not have a fever and that she will want to drink and eat. |

| I'm glad Ruby is doing better and I'm glad that you can go and see her. I know some vets don't do that, so you're lucky there. Give her lots of kisses from us! |

Scout did not have several flare ups...he had one long episode that lasted from early June until the end of August. So when he was 6 months old, it was pretty much over. During the illness, he could barely stand long enough to go potty. The were times we had to hold him up. We took him with us and carried him like a baby. He could not walk at all. He laid on a fleece bed on our couch for 3 months. I slept on the couch with him.
I love my boy so much. It was terrible for us to watch our sweet little puppy go through that. I swear that was the first time I saw my husband cry. It broke our hearts. |

I agree that Deramaxx works well for pain management. Jazz had to have a canine tooth extracted and was on Deramaxx. She was able to get comfortable enough that she fell off the couch in her sleep... |

Just been and seen my girl. Is it just me or does your dog look different after they have had a stay at the vets? I don't know she just seemed different.
It's definately a flare of HOD, just much worse this time.
She was so excited to see me and I was allowed to take her for a walk around the vet yard. After I took her back in the vet went to check her legs and she cried and lay on the floor as soon as he touched them. This was the first time she's had pain since she went down last friday.
Her fever has gone down alot, she looks quite thin though. I'm hoping to bring her home in a few hours.
Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruby, do ya know watcha doin doin to me!?
I just can't wait to snuggle her (and give her a bath - she soooo stinky) |

AW! I'm getting ready to go to bed but I hope I wake up to the news that you've brought her home. I don't know what I'd do if I had to leave Holly at the hospital. I'm glad her fever has come down, hopefully her legs start feeling better soon. |
