So Lincoln will be 12 weeks on Wednesday....

Yesterday morning (Sunday) he woke up at 7 heaving, so of course I quickly put him on the floor, where he threw up something brown and really yucky. I didn't feel like disecting it, so I don't know what it was, but I figured it was something he picked up at Grandmas (they dog-sat him on Saturday). I took him outside and he had total liquid poos.

He ate fine in the morning, lunch and dinner, but did have liquid poo all day, so I just figured it was something he ate off the ground. He pretty much slept from 8am - 6pm on Sunday. He seemed to be feeling better in the evening though.

But most of the day today he's has soft and/or liquid poos (I even gave him a big scoop of pumpkin with his dinner).

Anyways, I'll give my breeder a call tomorrow since she always seems to know what to do, but does anyone have any tips or ideas?

If he had eaten something bad, would the diarrhea last this long? He's drinking water fine, and is crazy wild today (typical 12 wk old Weim!).

YAY! Firm poo this morning!

Obviously the pumpkin does work! I'm going to give him a bit more today just to be sure.

He's eating Purina ProPlan Large Breed Puppy right now, since that's what he was eating at the breeder's.

His poos have never been that great (makes for messy cleanups) and I feel like his coat could be more shiny, so I am considering switching it up but i think I have to wait now, as I am just finishing a bag of food with not really enough left to make a gradual transition.

We had an episode with Gunnar like that at 12 weeks...he eventually threw up round worms....even though he had been wormed he still had them pretty bad.

I would check http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ and take a look at the top foods in the website. It could be that Purina has corn in it which dogs can not digest and its used only as filler with no nutritional values to offer.
Better food = less poop, firmer poor, NO diarrhea, better nutrition (just from personal experience)

Out of curiosity, did they miss them in fecal floats? That's exactly what happened to Luna, but she got SO sick she ended up with pneumonia before they figured it all out...

I took in a poop full of visible worms and they told me the fecal came back negative Shocked Shocked

When I asked how that could be, they said because they are looking for eggs not worms...doesn't make sense to me.

I know when we first got him, I took him in and the did a fecal exam. That was two weeks before we actually saw worms.

Seems like a huge waste of money... ugh... I to this day cannot believe 3 different vets missed them in her tests... we almost lost our baby puppy to @#$^ worms of all things...

Mayu had problems with ProPlan -- soft, smelly poo, and a LOT of it. She does much better on some of the other foods we've tried for her.

Then again Derek has been great on pro=plan. I forget when i switched him to adult food but he did well on the puppy and is great on the adult.

Our weims and puppies do AWESOME on Proplan. Weims can pick up so much from teh ground. Ours can hoover something even before we know they picked up something!! I know certain treats can give ours gas and diarrhea. When they have an upset tummy I usually fast them for 24hrs with only access to water and sometimes I give them a little kaopectate. Seems that once everything has passed and the intestines have had time to heal they are right back on track.

I would make sure that they vet has checked a poop sample. especailly with going to public parks and even just walking down the street dogs can pick up parasites.

Mischa also was on ProPlan when we picked her up from the breeder and had problems. Once we switched it is much better.
