I lost my baby boy, Timbit, about two weeks ago.
It has been on my mind so much and I'm sure everyone is sick and tired of hearing me talk about him, so I decided to post here. Timbit wasn't a Weim, he was a beautiful English Cocker Spaniel (who I always suspected was half Springer too, cause of his size and colour).
We bought Timbit from a pet store. At the time, we didn't realize that we would be buying a puppymill dog. Though I would never support a pet store like that again, I could never and would never regret getting Timbit.
At the age of 3, Timbit began having seizures and we discovered that he had genetically inherited idiopathic epilepsy. Unfortunately, medication didn't do much for him, there was nothing that could be done. However, I never gave up on him. I tried everything I could - even switching to a Holistic diet.
I committed to giving him a happy life to the best of my ability, knowing that one day this would all end the way it did.
Words cannot describe the feeling in your heart and stomach as you watch your dog uncontrollably seize, be disoriented, scared and completely and totally out of it. Every single time, tears filled in my eyes as I watched my dog helpless, wondering if this was going to be his last day, trying to help him and comfort him as much as I could.
Sadly, June 13th was his last day. His poor body succumbed to his epilepsy and he passed over.
I know in my heart that Timbit was here for a reason. Despite the commentary of many, I never once thought of putting Timbit down cause of his illness. It was just not an option. He was my boy and I loved him more than words can describe. He showed me pure love and affection. If I had to do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat.
I have always wished that one day I would be able to operate my own dog rescue. So many dogs are given away or put down because they are sick, or are not properly trained, or people just don't have the time and patience for them. Since Timbit's passing, I havn't been able to stop thinking about setting up a rescue center of my own for unwanted dogs. I don't know how I would accomplish that but helping animals has become my goal. I owe Timbit so much for what he gave me and I will miss him till the end of time. If I could offer a home to a sick unwanted dog, it would make my life meaningful and complete.
One day...
Thank you for everything you have taught me. We will meet again.
Rest in Peace, my silly little goose. |

i'm very sorry for your loss!
unfortunatly, I know what you're feeling since I've lost my older cocker spaniel, richie a month and a half ago!
it can be pretty painful, I must say I'm getting over this misery feeling with the help of my new pup, gandalf, the weim!
if you need to talk or chat or anything please feel free to contact me, since we're in the same situation, I guess!

I am so sorry for your loss! I have two puppy mill dogs, I prefer to say that I rescued them from that terrible place. |

I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, I know what it's like to lose a loved one so soon before their time. It's so insanely unfair, and I feel your pain. Know that you are not alone, and we are all here to help get you through this difficult time.
Timbit
...and I think you are wonderful for wanting to start a rescue. GO FOR IT! |

We will be getting a new pup soon.
Like my baby before Timbit, I know that dogs cannot be replaced. Each one of my past dogs hold a special place in my heart and each dog, was as different and as unique as can be. I miss them both and still love them dearly.
However, home just isn't a home without a dog and I feel like I have so much more love left to give to a pup somewhere that is waiting for me to take him home.
We really didn't expect to find a puppy so soon, we thought it would be around September but luckily we found out (90% sure). While he will never replace my dear Timbit, he will sure to ease the pain and and take the loneliness out of this house. |

| We lost our boy on June 13th as well. He was in an accident and survived for 24hours with us by his side. We layed with him, prayed with him, and tried not to believe the end was near. But at only 4 years old he had to cross the bridge. I am sure they are there together running free. |
