Well apparently Link does not like everybody or every dog. He certainly did not like my sister in law. My brother and his wife came over with their two dogs today and I really did not anticipate a problem.

They pulled into the yard, let their dogs out of the car and I let our guys out including Link. As Lisa was getting out of the car Link ran up and bit her arm then promptly got into a scuffle with their springer spaniel mix. This all happened in a matter of seconds. He broke the skin on her arm and it will probably bruise but it was not major. There were no injuries in the dog scuffle. In hindsight, we should have handled it differently. Lisa is very intimidated by our dogs especially when they first get here until all the dogs have greeted and gone about their business. We should have kept Link separate until after they settled down. I tried to bring him down on a leash later and he got into another scuffle with Sammy. This same dog started a fight with Jake last summer so I really can't say who the problem was. I did have Link on a leash and Sammy ran up to him. But he still did not want anything to do with Lisa. He just barked at her. He did not have any problem with my brother.

We had about a dozen of Eddie's friends here last weekend along with 8 or 9 kids and babies with no issues. I had a co-worker and her son and another boy here one night last week with no problem. They have left and he is his cute lovable self. I don't know what the problem was. I don't know what to think.

What do you guys think??? I can't believe this happened. He has been such a sweet and lovable little boy.

I would guess that he sensed her intimidation/fear/anxiety and responded to it although, I am not sure that I would have expected him to react like that... I definitely think they sense things that we obviously cannot...

ooo nooo Sad what a pain. Im not sure what to think but for whatever reason sounds like Link was not impressed w/ your sister-in-law Confused

Thats so odd..and I imagine very frustrating for you since things have gone soooo well with him.

Maybe Link thought you were gonna send him w/ her Shocked

Is he going to be placed for adoption through tri state? Ive been getting a lot of interviews lately but more than half of them have been canceling on me bc they change their mind and decide a weims not for them Sad ..but I guess its good they decide now rather than after they get one!

maybe he senses the dogs come with her. If he is not fond of the dogs, maybe he is not fond of her. I don't know, just trying to think like Link! He should have responded differently, but maybe he felt to protect you and his surroundings.

AND, because he didn't get to be outside much yesterday, he cried off and on in the crate this morning and woke John up so he's pissy now.

Poor little guy really needs to be somewhere that is "his" home. I don't know why he did what he did with Lisa. There are a few other things that would have changed what happened. She normally stays in their vehicle until the dogs all come out and the initial chaos ends. But they usually come in my bro's old van. This time they were in Lisa's nice Infinity and John told her to get out of the car because it might get scratched...WTF I rather the car got scratched. She gets out of the car the same moment I opened the door and let them all out. And there were two dogs there that Link had never met.

Not to mention the fact that my SIL is afraid of her own shadow. I love her but she is the complete opposite of me. She is always petrified of being jumped on or touched by the dogs. I think she really only likes Scout and she barely pets him because he gets excited.

Obviously, I made a mistake trying to foster a fifth dog, but I couldn't leave him there and when I took him I did it knowing that I would keep him until a home was found.

Sometimes my family is just a PIA, including my husband.

OH no!
I think it was the situation, Lynn, really.
A few wee\ks ago, we were walking b n j some guy from around the corner came up to us and started talking loudly to us as he was approaching...all about Weims being hunting dogs and trying to show us his German magazine about the dogs he "trains" to be hunters. We were under a low tree and then he started shouting some commands in German! Well I think he really freaked Blue because he nipped him. Pretty good, too. No blood, but broke some skin... Well i felt awful (and terrified that we'd end up getting sued or something) and then after we went back around to give him our info, he started telling us how he's gotten bitten by a number of dogs at shows and such and even got it from a donkey and a horse! So apparently it's HIM Wink
You would think soemone who "knows and trains/breeds" hunting dogs and STRANGE dogs would know NOT to approach the way he did...Oy. (I mean really... wasn't he as good as gold @ the picnic with EVERYONE being strangers to him??!!)

Well, I DO hope your SIL is ok and John doesn't stay mad at Link too long. Sometimes it's just a wrong combination. Sad sorry...
