|
|
We are going to our first retrieval trail in a couple weeks. From what I read I stand in a circle someone shoots a starter pistol and someone else drops a dead bird about 20 yards away. Then we do the same thing again with the bird dropped in the water.
I know we won't pass, just going for fun. So my questions are:
1. Did I explain what will happen correctly?
2. We are having a practice the day before and I have to buy some birds. How many should I buy? |

Why do you think you won't pass? You never know! |

| He doesn't like to get his feet wet. We couldn't go swimming last year because of flooding, so all of the lakes were all closed. He crosses the street to get away from sprinklers. I have to pull him outside when it rains. But we'll have fun anyway. |

Have we got the same dog? I walked Jaeger this morning in the rain and he made sure to avoid all the puddles |

I am jealous! Idaho is a great place to hunt but I think the closest weim club is in Washington. I don't even know where to look to find a ratings test. Good luck, I know you guys will do great! |

| I think everyone should give the ratings tests a try. You will all be surprised how well your weims will do. yes they need to make a retrieve on land and in the water but even if your dog doesn`t pass you will have a blast. I`m so glad we have gone to a few ratings test. We met a lot of great people and some were able to give us some valuable hints. We were hooked on our very first time out!!! |

| Does anyone know how to find information about scheduled ratings tests? I don't have a local weimaraner club and I don't really know how to find out about these events. |

Sometimes they don't post them in time. I'd just contact your closest club (ours is 4 hours away, so you're not the only one who is geographically challenged!) and ask them to send you a premium when they have ratings or hunt tests scheduled.
