Thank you for the nice welcome. I love talking about my girl, so I would be happy to tell you anything. She also has her own My Space page with lots and lots of pics if you want to check her out over there.

Hi Christina...I didn't realize that you helped out with the Louisville Weim Rescue... I visit the site daily, I have been for over a month now.. since losing our Kooper my heart has been pulling me to the rescue. There is actually a little guy on there right now that I have fallen in love with. I'm not sure where he is being fostered. I really don't know much about how adopting from the rescue works but I'm interested, I think... its just so hard since losing our boy. But as you all well know, life just isn't the same without a Weimy! |

Yeah, I have had 2 fosters through the LWR so far. One Blue female and one Silver female. They were both GREAT dogs. I think that rescue is the way to go, especially through LWR because all of our dogs are in foster homes, so you will know the behavior of the dog unlike getting them from a kennel where they don't really know how the dog will be in a home setting. If you are interested in getting a new Weim from LWR, I would recommend sending in your application and getting the ball started. Sometimes it can take a week or so to get approved. They can also help you pick out one that will fit your situation if you tell them what kind of Weim you are looking for. Which little one did you fall in love with on there? I met Gray in person and he is a real love bug, he LOVES belly rubs and is on the smaller side for a male Weim. I have also met Wilbur, he is super soft!
Again, I am SOOO very sorry for your loss of Kooper. I remember reading that on Starr's My Space page and I just cried for you guys. It really touched me for some reason.
Let me know if I can do anything to help you out. |

Hey Christina, its so wonderful that there are folks out there like you and the others that foster these weimies that are in so much need of a loving forever home. Bless their hearts, some of the stories are heartbreaking. Don't know how anyone could do some of the things they do to these precious babies.
On the LWR site I was looking... I've fallen for "River" & "Josie" they seem to be so sweet. And "Gunner" he's such a handsome boy-- he reminds me of our Kooper. I feel like I would like to have 2 weims if we decide the time is right for us to have another. My husband really wants to raise a puppy again, I think he's afraid of "rescue" but my heart is pulling me that way. Gosh.. its just so hard when you've lost... Kooper was so much more than a "dog" he was a family member and we are still grieving over him. We still have all his things just as he left them I guess when the time is right maybe a new Weim will com into our lives.

I never lost a dog, so I can't say that I understand how you are feeling. But I sure can sympathize. I completely understand what you mean by he was more than a dog. Mine are like my kids and I LOVE spending time with them. They make me smile every day.
The rescue sometimes gets in puppies as well. Not very often, but sometimes they do. I think that Gunner is a cutie as well. The rescue actually has some pretty young ones right now, I think there is a 7 month old on there. I think if I ever get a Weim again it will be at least a year old, that puppy part is hard with these little guys, ha ha!
It is very sweet that you still have all of Kooper's items. I am sure that he had a great life with you guys. And only you will know when the time is right for a new Weim. But once you do, I really do hope you keep leaning towards rescue. So many people get these guys because they are cute little puppies and then they grow and people just no longer want them, which is a shame.
Denise, is in charge of the rescue and she is super sweet. Like I said when you guys decide the time is right just tell them what you are looking for in your Weim and they will help pick out the best fit for your family. |
