With so many dog food choices out there, it's sometimes confusing. I just want to know which brand many of you feed your weims. My dog is sometimes a picky eater. Any info would help. Just want to know which brand my fellow weim owners feed their best companions. Want to make sure my dog is getting the best nutrition. Thanks |

Innova EVO Red Meat and sometimes Wellness Core.
You can try www.dogfoodanalysis.com for reviews of various foods. I have found it to be a very helpful site. |

| There are so many different types. I use pro plan. That is what my breeder recommended. |

| We are also on Pro Plan and it seems to be okay for now. Since Lincoln is only 10.5 weeks, we're going to keep him on Pro Plan for a bit and then I may consider a switch to either Canidae or Orijen. |

I rotate Canidae, Innova Evo, and Solid Gold.
The new puppy is just getting Canidae until she's a little older. |

Excuse me, Ma'am. Did I miss Roxy's intro post, or hasn't it happened yet?! |

I haven't posted one. She's not a Weim so she's not worthy!
Haha, J/K she is a sweety. My husband wanted her but I couldn't imagine not having her.
I will post an intro for her and I'll put some pics up in a little bit. |

Have any of you used Nutro Ultra?
My Weim is almost 2.5 years old. He has used Nutro Choice Lamb Meal and Rice Formula for Large Breed for a long time. I have not been able to get this blend for about 2 to 3 months.
Based off of stories directly from Nutro and Pet stores I am looking around at various foods to change up what he has been eating.
I have found a new brand which I have never heard of Canidae and been looking at reviews on some sites.
I am also looking at Innova EVO Red Meat and Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb Meal.
I found it here:
http://www.eaglepack.com/Pages/HS_Lamb.html
I just don’t really trust Nutro anymore. I have heard too many excuses and would like to move on. My dog has always had a wonderful coat and always maintained good weight with the Lamb Meal and I am afraid he may be allergic to other food since that is all he has eaten his whole life.
Any thoughts? |

| All dogfoods on the market have all the nutritional value that a dog requires. Some dogs do better on certain foods than others. Don't get caught up in all the hype of websites, fancy packaging and such. Pick a food that YOUR dog does well on, is readily available and fits your in your budget. What works for one dog doesn't work for all. |

There are so many foods out there and these days the people at the pet stores try to make their foods they sell look REALLY good but in reality they are not!!
I think every weim is different and you will have to find something that workds well for your dog. We have tried so many foods but LOVE the ProPlan diets. Our pup shave done well on the growth and the adults are doing great on the Large breed adult (ALWAYS chicken & Rice as it is much blander than Lamb or beef). even our senior weim is doing really well on their senior diet. I don't need to suppliment them with anything either. We had troubles with so many other foods. Poor hair coat or runny stool or terrible gas. But I'm very happy with the way the look and act on the proplan. Seems to be working for them. Unless something drastically changes I don't think I would use anything else |

| It really is what works for your dog. We were on ProPlan for a long time and liked it. Never thought anything about it and didn't want to change until we found California Natural by accident. It was amazing the changes. But, it works for others. As long as the food isn't $10 for a 40lb. bag and has good ingredients then it should be fine. My parents had a dog that lived for 14 years and the vet was always amazed at how healthy she was. They fed her Kibbles N Bits (yuck!!!), but for whatever reason it worked. Of course, if they'd fed her something better she might have lived to 20, who knows! |

We have Django on Orijen and he's doing extremely well on it. No skin or tummy issues and his coat is soft and glossy. NO puppy farts, nice solid poops, and NO bad breath.
So far, so good and he loves it too! Of course, he also likes to eat dirt so I guess I can't really put too much stock into the fact that he goes crazy for it. |
