I'm so sorry. Gus is in a better place now, though.
The Candle is being lit.

I am so sorry for your loss. Gus was a beautiful boy! I just watched your video and cryed, it made me think of my Cody.
I can tell by your words and by the video how much you loved him. He was a very special friend, I know, and it's obvious that he loved you to pieces. By taking away his pain you were able to give the ultimate gift of love and for that I'm sure he is so grateful to you. Thank you for sharing his story with us.
RIP Gus
Welcome to the board, I look forward to hearing more about Gus. |

Gus was such a stunning dog, who showed his wisdom, personality and love, stunningly through his eyes. Even through a photo. Such beautiful eyes.
It's so cruel that our loves are only with us for a short time. It's never long enough. Just the right amount of time to change us for the better, and stay with us forever.
I wish you only the best memories, and swift healing from your terrible loss. |

I originally posted about lighting the candle and letting Gus's light shine on in NJ last night (which I did...)
today i came back to view the video (at work) I have tears of sadness streaming down my cheeks for your loss BUT also for the joy of knowing you had this beautiful soul with you for 12 years. Gus looks like he had an awesome life.
I have a 11 yr old and I dread the day I have to make his tribute video...
again, my thoughts are with you and
† RIP sweet Gus |

Kelly and I have old men that are very close in age and that look strikingly similar. I love Blue and she loves Jake......
Again, I am so sorry for your loss. It is not fair that we only get to have them for so short a time; but I guess God knows what he is doing. After all, he has given us the opportunity to enjoy several of these sweet souls in our lifetimes. But that does not make the loss of any one of them any easier to cope with.....
Loving light for Gus |

RIP Gus
I lost my beloved Jackson after 15 years back in 1999, and I still smile everytime I think of him. I know it is hard, but know that he is happy and in a better place.
I'm sorry for your loss. |

thank you everyone, for your kind words. Yesterday, we lit a candle, took up his beds, bowls and swept up the fur off the floor. I even wiped the nose smudges off the windows and doors. It was a very emotional process, and my husband and I made up a little memorial in the utility room where Gus had his food bowls. We put a table with a photo of him and a candle there with a dog treat. I think about him constantly, but the pain is subsiding a little and the memories are sweet. I dream about him a lot.
I also spoke to a weim rescue group rep yesterday about the possibility of fostering later this summer. We are definitely not ready to welcome another dog in our lives just yet, but the idea of having another weim in a few months gives us something to look forward to. |
