Because of this site, I learned of the Bully Stick. Ace absolutely loves them, I have gotten rid of all the rawhide I was giving him to chew. The large ones seem to last way longer than rawhide also. (I get the 12" jumbo) They are safer because they can't gnaw off large pieces, and it's also easier to digest. (no puking so far....yay!)
Seems they are cheaper if you buy them on line, but Petsmart and Petco carry them also. Maybe buy a few to try out to make sure your Weimie likes them.....
I'm so glad your puppy is ok after that incident!
Here are some sites that carry Bully Sticks, they also explain what a Bully Stick actually is.

| I give my "kids" the straight raw hides, only when we are watching them and I take them away after awhile. Never do they get a whole raw hide in one sitting. It's more of a treat to chill them out when they are driving their mother INSANE... |

We like to bust out the rawhide when we're eating supper... keeps the drooling beggar mutt at bay |

| We usually buy the Chewz things...they are kind of like rawhide but made different, or something I'm not really sure. Lucy isn't allowed to have them any more because the last one she ate instead of chewing on it bites at a time she had the whole thing in her mouth and it got soft and she would kind of swallow it and then cough it back up. It really freaked me out so now she is just banned from them. |

| We buy Wilson the large Boodah Bones. He LOVES them! The only problem with them is that they do not last very long (30 -45 min), but it is great to use when we need him to leave us alone for a while! PetSmart and Target carry them. |

My dogs have eaten way worse than the end of a rawhide...but I still worry every time it happens!
The pressed rawhide is fine for them, though not in large amounts. I never ever buy the knotted type rawhide--too thick and can cause all kinds of expensive vet visits! |

| Grace has an abundance of nylabones. Its the only toy she has in the house (everything else she would shred to bits). She has learned to love her nylabones. She plays with them, chews them, carries them around and even sleeps with them LOL |

I've yet to buy some for Holly but my German Shepherd LOVED deer antlers!!!!
It's been talked about a little on here...just do a search on antlers. I think they're great because they last for a VERY long time!!! |

| This week, we have tried the bully stick, greenies, and compressed raw hide. All three of which she loves. The compressed raw hide will definitely last the longest. I thought she would chew on a greenie for a while, but it lasted no longer than a milk bone! She loves the bully stick. She obsesses about it and will chew it for a full day until it is too small and I have to take it from her. I kind of like it because it occupies her for so long! Only problem was that we had to practice taking it and giving it back be cause she started to get over possessive with it and growl and snap when we came to close to her while she chewed it. Now she unhappily gives it up without a snarl, but her eyes still kind of bug out. With that said so far the bully stick is the best. |

We've also been reduced to mostly nylabones. We do have a couple other Luna tested & approved toys though... I got her a "bad cuz" for her birthday, and after a whole month it is still in tact (except she chewed the horns off in the first 5 minutes) and squeaky! She also has a couple large rope knots, she still kills them, but alot slower than other toys. |

ours get nylabones and bad cuz and similar toys. and lots of kongs.
watch out for the greenies. they can swallow big pieces too. we ditched the rawhides years ago, because it was too stressful. ziggy would eat it, and then as soon as she noticed us watching her, she would swallow the end piece. not worth it. |

It is VERY scary when they swallow a chunk of something. Last time Sasha tried to swallow something, I reached into her mouth and pulled it out, my husband was shocked , he said 'your not going to put your hand down her throat are you?' WATCH ME..I'm not going through her swallowing something and getting sick again. , Luckily she has a BIG mouth and I have small hands. haha. |
