So I thought I should explain the candle
to everyone since I write about it in every "at the bridge" post...
When I first lost my angel, Casey (non-Weim) I had no one other than Chris and my mom to really turn to. Co workers understood; and my boss tried to actually give me paid bereavement time and a friend sent us a wonderful memento-- the O'Neill book Last Will and Testament of a Most Distinguished Dog (which I sometimes give to friends now too, to carry on the tradition) but I really needed something more...I needed to see her beautiful light continue to shine!
Once Blue rescued us and we became addicted to Weims, I saw how truly special these dogs and fellow owners were. On another forum, we, too posted about our ghosts passing and waiting at the bridge... we all cried and sympathized together and it was then that I decided to light a novena- type candle in honor and memory of our dear departed doggies. What a way to let their light SHINE!
So now when I hear of, read or know personally a fellow Weim (or non-Weim) has gone to The Rainbow Bridge to wait for us, I say a little prayer and light the candle...
So know that in NJ, a special dog's light shines up to heaven that night.
doGspeed, sweet Weimie-angels.

I don't remember seeing this posted here.. but it's possible that I missed it. On another forum, I heard about the Monday Candle Lighting for all pets who have crossed The Bridge.

Thank you so much for the link, I love that idea... it sounds like an expanded version of what I do!!!
We should organize the W.A. members to do something like this once a month or even at certain rescue events.
The last event I went to for my friend's all-breed rescue had a woman with a Memory Quilt that had a rainbow and clouds. You could donate $ for a bone shaped cloud that was a fabric sticker and write a doggy's name on it w/ a fabric marker. And she also gave out votives and tealights and sold pet-loss support books. She said she got the idea for the quilt from the hospital she works in... they do one for NICU babies that dont survive and she adapted it for fur-babies. |

Thank you. The notion of Howie waiting for us at the bridge got us through those first few incredibly dark days. We pray others feeling this loss find similar comfort. |

The Candle will be lit tonight in honor of Link.
His little light only just started to shine while in Lynn and John's care... an all "too brief and shining moment"

| Thank you. When we lost Fiona, your post about the candle was very comforting. We appreciate it. |
