We made the choice today to let Ivan go. Over the last three weeks he progressed from a completely healthy dog to one who could not walk on his own and was having other significant neurological problems. After much testing, they found a brain lesion and determined that he had a type of encephalitis in his cerebellum. The vets did not know the specific cause but in the end, the prognosis was not good. My husband and I made the unbelievably difficult decision to put him to sleep.

I can't even imagine how you are feeling. Please remember, that Ivan is in a much better place! He is no longer suffering, and can chase all the squirrels he wants Wink

I'm sure you were not ready to let Ivan go, but I'm sure you did the right thing. I hope you are coping with your grief and reminiscing on all the happy memories you shared with him.

I came by looking for an update on Ivan and my heart stopped when I saw this thread.

A hard... but, generous decision. You did what was best for him, as hard as it was and he knew it.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry to hear about the decision you had to make. I too was checking for an update on Ivan. I know this wasn't easy for you to do but I'm sure you made the right decision. My heart is aching and goes out to you.

Ahhhh I was really hoping for good news about Ivan today...I got a chill up my spine when I saw this thread Crying or Very sad

I had to let my boy *Aris* go last september and it was the HARDEST decision hubby and I have ever had to make Calm or asleep
