| So, I recently started giving the dogs half of their food in a kong. Cache had been putting on too much weight from eating regular food AND getting a kong. I've just been putting about 3/4 cup of Canidae and I top it off with about 1tbsp yogurt and PB mixture. They get this at about 8am and 3pm. I think because he doesn't get his food otherwise, it makes Cache more willing to go in his crate-- and he went in it both times willingly today (a first!). Is there any danger in doing this? Obviously bloat since no one is home with them right after the meals (for about 3-4 hrs each time), but I imagine since it is a relatively small amount of food and they eat it slowly as it is in the Kong and they have to work for it, it is less of a concern? I want someone to play devil's advocate, please! They will still get their regular 1 1/2 cups at 8pm. |
