I just wanted to hear from other weim parents if they use halti's when they go to obedience classes. I know Zanethebrain does.
I have just been to our second class and the instructer again this week made various comments to me regarding Ruby wearing the halti.
We have been wearing this on walks and at home for about 6 - 8 weeks and she is still not wanting to wear it (paws at it, and scratches it) occassionaly. I am happy with her wearing it because it stopped the pulling and leaping instantaneously, walked on the left etc. MIRACLE LOL.
The instructer thinks Ruby is too distracted by her halti to be learning anything at classes and I should take it off.
I am the only one who wears one at my club. (about 40 members)

I use a Gentle Leader to work on loose leash walking but I didn't use it in obedience class. I guess I figured it was the place to learn how not to use it so we suck to the flat collar.

However about 3 people in my class used them and the school actually sold them.

Good luck in class!

We use them for B n J. June HATES it, but they work wonders, so on they go...
As far as training, they are a training aid. Chris recommends them to all his "pullers" in class and PetCo sells them. He has them practice loose leash walking with them, but for the most part, a flat collar is used in classes.

In my training class they require us to use the Gentle Leaders.

yeah we also use one with Molly. it works wonders! she isn't a fan of it still, some days are better than others though. The pulling stopped right away. we have tried her on the collar but she goes right back to pulling which doesn't help her or us so we also use it for training.
