| OK listen everyone I have had Wrigley since she was three months old the lady told us that she would tell her when she had to go out but still had to watch her they couldn't keeper any more because of all of the chewing that she was doing and all of the potting in the house. So we saw her on the Internet and we where looking to get a second dog but not one so young and since i help my mom train dog i had no problem taking in a puppy that needed a home but then we got her home i understand that it takes time. i got her house broken by the time she turned 5 months old. she was telling us and i watched every sign that she had if she even put her nose down i took her out. then all of a sudden she starting to do this crap she tells us that she has to go and i take and then i bring her back in no sign no telling us just goes she doesn't sniff around she just goes after i had her out side now there are time that i stand out there for like a 1/2 hour waiting for her to go potty my key word for her "go potty". And when she goes outside i praise her and praise her i tell her good girl. i only said that i was going to re-home her out of i wouldn't say anger frustration. I love Wrigley to death i don't know what to do any more with this problem that she is having and i have all of the time in the world for her I'm a homemaker i just wished i got payed for the things that i do. |

| I was going to ask if she has separation anxiety....especially since you mentioned that you're a homemaker......perhaps she gets so worked up when she can not see you that she messes herself? |

...ok. We had some similiar experiences with Rosie between 6-9.5 mos of age....it was by far a very hard period and I'm so glad we stuck by her because it is and was completely worth it. Concurrent with that timeframe, I'd been home with her all the time, and then back to work fulltime, she went from being totally potty trained to going the bathroom every single day in her crate. She never pooped inside, only peed. The vets did so much testing and finally the breeder, vet, and I attributed it to seperation anxiety.
If I left her she would pace, cry, and whine until I came back. Trick here - do not give in while they are in distress. wait for that millisecond where they are calm, then come back into the room and go about your own business. Do not pay her any attention when she acts this way. It will not happen overnight, Rosie is 14.5 mos old and still can be visibly upset if I leave her in an unfamiliar setting with my husband or close friends. You just have to keep practicing leaving and coming back at very small intervals and work your way up. The day I brought her to work and left for 2 min for the bathroom I thought the humane society would be called she was howling so loudly.
There are medications that you and your vet can discuss, we choose not to go that route. Instead, we did everything people on here have talked about: left a radio/TV on, made my comings and going low-key as to not initiate the anxiety for her, left frozen kong balls and the yummiest treats around. We enrolled her in advanced obedience training, we began doubling her exercise time and started running her offleash with other dogs to tire her out as much as possible. I started just leaving the room and have my husband spend more time with her doing fun things so she wouldn't be "as attached" to me. We put her up overnight at daycare once too, just to experience time away.
Is Wrigley spayed?
Do a search on separation anxiety, you'll find some helpful advice from many people that have been in this type of situation.
As a sidenote, and I'm not sure you guys are ready for this yet or not, but at about 10 mos I finally gave in and gave up on the crate since I was convinced it was attributing to her separation anxiety. She didn't pee in her crate again once she had a little free roam (just one room babygated off).
I wish you goodluck - there will be good days and bad days - just be as loving and patient and it WILL pay off. |

| She might need more time outside. Some dogs go more than once per session. |

WOW!!!!
Can you leave her outside longer till she is completely empty?
I would leash her to my belt until you get it under control...
Good luck...this has to be so frustrating for you... |

Mainly for the pure sake of discussion and in hopes it might be the source of the problem here - perhaps you could try switching to a higher quality food. There have been many many discussions about nutrition and I'm going to direct you to a thread started not too long ago where a number of foods where graded...including Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy which scored an 87 or B according to the scale. Why not try an A (+) quality food to see if it makes a difference? The worst that can happen - she doesn't like it and you go back to the old one - the best that can happen - it helps her and you have fewer messes/accidents in the house.

Also take a look at the following websites:
http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
http://www.dogaware.com/dogfeeding.html#commercial
If you give them the best quality food, they need to eat less of it to get the nutrition they need and they poop less. The Nutro is listed as a 2-star food (six-star is the highest) which is not very good. I would bet that if you get a better food with less grain and filler she will poop less and that might help the situation.
I know how frustrating it can be...my old boy Clifford has accidents in the house every day in the last year of his life. I understand how difficult it is...but don't give up until you've exhausted every possibility!
*Filipino* luck! |
