| I've heard not so good, but I would guess it depends on the location. I'd ask your vet for recommendations. |

Champ has gone through beginner, intermediate, and now advanced, and
they have done an awesome job. My dog can sit\stay the longest in the class, and is socialized very well. We start advanced next week, and all of the dogs in the class are going to be big dogs, German Shepard,
Rotweiller, Pit/Lab mix, and Champ. After the advanced class we will
be testing for our CGC, and then in October we will be testing for our
TDI.
The next 6 weeks is going to be a very trying time. All of the dogs are
Male. The Rotweiller Smasher is a mean dog, and every time we come into class, he growls at champ. I tell Champ to leave it, and put his attention to me, and he does well. the trainer that we have is a college
student studying to be a Vet, which helps. I have had a very good
experience with the Petsmart Training, but as Pam K stated, it depends
on the area.

| I think that it depends on the trainer and how YOU get along with the person. We took our older dog through two of the training classes with the same lady. When we got Lucy the trainer that we used for Julia had been transfered a ways away. I went around and talked to some of the trainers at the stores close to us but none of them clicked for me. I ended up driving far every week to see Julia's old trainer. It was worth it to us because I think that their training is just as much about what you are learning and how you are interacting as it is about them. If the class/trainer isn't good for you then it's not going to do anything for them. |

I went with an organization called Columbus All Breed Training in my area. They only do training and offer any class you could want. The instructors are volunteers, they have huge training areas inside and outside and were at least $30 cheaper than PetSmart.
I didn't like that the PetSmart training was a tiny room in the middle of the store. I recommend sitting in on any class before signing up so you can get a feel for the instructors and see if it's a good fit. It's always a good idea to shop around. |

| if you get along with the trainer does make an incredible amoutn of difference. So far, I have only met one woman that I seemed to click with in terms of Ruby's training. In last weeks obedience I was having trouble keeping Ruby's attention even with the bbq chook I had cut up. The trainer told me "It's just the breed of dog".. I didn't feel that was a good enough reply to my question on attention keeping. She's always making stabs at my use of the halti as well. Luckily we have one more week in this class then we move over. |

We just started our first puppy class at Petsmart tonight.
I'm proud to say Lincoln was the best puppy in the class! Yay Lincoln! It didn't help that there are two crazy Beagles in the class. I'm sorry if anyone on WA has a Beagle, but those dogs can be nuts. And I couldn't handle all the 'BAROOOO"ing!
Looking forward to the next 7 classes. |

I thought I was being overly sensitive when we put Sasha in puppy class and the 'trainer' was so into all these other dogs and just turned her nose at ours, then when they were passing out certificates everyone else got, most likely to be....show dog, agility, tracker...ect. WE GOT...'MOST LIKELY TO BE A MULE'. so needless to say ..we didn't go back. It hurt my feelings, Sasha had just gotten out of splints..she's VERY high energy..but these people were supposed to be professional. Thank you for letting me vent...next time I will be more selective on the trainer and we'll go for the ultimate goals...With both of them. |

Oh, just to clarify...the place that we took Sasha to wasn't Petsmart, it was a local place. Sadly... we really liked the owner...but go figure, not much on the trainer side.
And thank you...it's nice to have people on MY side..hahaha. |

That is terrible and unprofessional!! I would have given them a piece of my mind!!
We checked out a few local places and I did find that some were prejudiced against Weims saying they are all wild and crazy. The place we settled on has a trainer who has obedience titled most of her Weims so we were assured that we wouldn't be treated like crazies. And even though she teaches higher levels we knew she could be a resource if we had any questions. Interesting point that I heard about her classes is that she is very unique in her training style and people either love it or dislike it. From what I saw she is constantly shaking it up and after working with Marvin and seeing how bored Weims can get with constant repetition I understand her style and how she is able to get so much out of her dogs. |

I guess that would explain why she kept saying..OH, JUST A TYPICAL WEIMARANER. OUCH..
