So...for those who make their dogs meals home made...wether cooked or raw....

Can you list some recipes?
How often you feed what?
The base of their diet?
Also how much you feed ?

I am very interested in this...I already have always supplemented my dogs dog food with cooked or raw things such as meat and veggies but am interested in learning from others.

you will find a lot of differing opinions about food.. but this is what seems to work well for Hooch... my very well exercised, active weim pup.. just about 50lbs at 5 months old..
in AM he gets 1 cup canidae original with boiled chicken and unsweetened natural applesauce..
afternoon 1 cup canidae with a spoonful of organic plain low fat yogurt.
dinner 1 1/2 cup canidae with cottage cheese and pumpkin.

he gets training treats through out the day, as well as the occasional bully stick, sam's yam, or frozen kong (sometimes yogurt with natural pb, sometimes frozen banana or applesauce).. as well as an array of dog safe fruits and veggies.. mostly apples and carrots, strawberries and broccoli or cauliflower..loves chicken broth ice cubes.. (low sodium, organic, 1/2 water).. big carrots, cut in half length wise and thrown in the freezer make great teethers.. sometimes i give him a scrambled egg, too..
in the beginning i only introduced one new thing at a time, to make sure he didn't react..
sorry, i don't remember how old wrench is.. but go slow.
there are some folks that feed raw on here.. if you do a search, i'm sure you will find a ton of info. good luck!

I tried this homemade dog food recipe...used oatmeal instead of the pasta and added some sweet potato along with a bag of pureed green beans. This is fairly easy and you can know exactly what's in it....plus you can just make a good batch when chicken parts are on sale. I figure it cost me about 6 bucks to make this whole batch, and I froze the food in one cup sized dollops. Good supplement for the Canidae she already gets and she just loves it.

BTW I left out the garlic...not sure how much garlic makes for a toxic dose and she seemed to love it anyway. I mix about 1/2 c. of this with her Canidae (1.5 cups) when she has her dinner.
