Greetings from Iraq!!!
I am trying to see what Weim owners have to say about their "children". I am looking forward to see if a Weim will be able to keep up with my active live style. |

| Hello and welcome, without a doubt a weim can keep up with the most active lifestyle! The only problem may come if you get a puppy as weim pups don't need to be walked or run too far to protect their bones. Are you thinking puppy or maybe a rescue? |

Welcome. I choose a weim because I do triathlon and wanted a running buddy. He is 15 months old and in a couple months we'll start running. Currently the longest walk we have been on is 4 miles, well I walked 4 miles he probably did 6-7 , Since its hot here we swim afterward to cool down.
Then we get a nice long nap. |

| Welcome!! Keep your head down!! A weim can keep up with you. The question is: Can you keep up with them??? You probably can, you may just have to adjust for a few months until you get them trained and you will be ready for the fun!!!! |

There are lots of puppies in rescue We got our girl when she was 10 weeks old, but she went into foster at 3 days old. Don't rule rescue out even if you want a puppy, especially if you want a running buddy and a great pet.

| He's not just going to be a running buddy but also a go everywhere, do everything buddy who also gets to hunt with me. I will more then likely try waterfowl hunting with him, and well upland game too. |

Oh, they'll keep up! One of the things I love about these guys is that they're ready to go whenever you are and not only have great stamina but recover quickly. I got my first weim when I was training for a marathon, and while I couldn't run with her at first, she made a great running buddy when she was older!
I bike with my dogs all the time, and they not only can hit 20mph at a sprint, but they can run 15+ miles at about 8-12mph easily while we ride. And they love it! When I get my bike shoes out they get really excited!
As far as upland goes, a well-bred weim is a heck of a hunting partner!
Best part is, a well bred weim will work for you all day, and then cuddle up on the couch until you're ready to go again!

oi from australia!!!
dont worry these dogs can definately keep up with you,as said above can you keep up with them?
a lil while ago i took both ours spotlighting (shooting at night with utility vehicles) for 6 hrs, both dogs followed the utility the whole night, chased rabbits, roos, possums, mice.they reutrned to to the ute only when called and loved to run the whole time,as well as retrieve the targets
imo these dogs are high energy and fairly high maintenence but worth every dollar and minute spent on/with them!!
you should do a heap of homework on this breed before buying one as they do not suit everyone's lifestyle.
just because they look cool and silver doesnt mean they are right for you!
if you decide on a wei it will be a good choice and if youre commited you will not regret it!they are loyal companions and seek your affections (in a dog /owner kind of way)
good luck
my 2c
cheers |
