I believe it is for a couple of reasons First, gamebirds react differently than pigeons. They are much more nervous and tend to stay hidden much better than pigeons when planted. The other reason is they smell differently than pigeons. I think GB's put of a more intense scent, or at least one that smells better. You really see the improvement of style on a dog that has trained on a lot of pigeons, then moved on to GB's. One's that have only been on a few pigeons don't exhibit as much change. I can't even use pigeons on my female anymore. She won't blink them, but she just stands there. Put out any GB of your choice and she'll give you a show. |
Makes perfect sense! I'm so going to use pigeons for a while! I'd love to see her style up!

Uhhh... shipping live fish costs a min. of $75.00. (They're packaged separately with oxygenated water with separate heating packs, then placed into a large bag which is then put into a Styrofoam box which is then placed into a large cardboard box.) -Not to mention the overnight shipping expense. LOL!
Hey if you're looking to get rid of quail in a few months (because I'm going to transition over to pigeons for now)- you know who to contact! |

And I thought shipping dogs was high. If you figure it by the pound, dogs are a bargain.
If all goes well, I should have some extra birds. We could probably work something out.

Style also comes with confidence. Build the confidence, build the style. |

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. If you think about the pigeon concept it make total sense...IMO.
I know...I'm setting my trap out as of today. |

If you have a good supply of pigeons, I wouldn't worry about a loft. Use them all for shoot to kill, or just let them fly back and re-trap. At the current feed prices, it might be worth the extra work not to have any to hold.
Mixing birds up a little in training helps spice things up for the dog. |

| H20, That would be my plan with the flying rats. I can't say that I would like having them things around. I have a couple of farms close by and one grain elevator that will alow me to put out traps,so I think birds will be easy to get. |
