| I am sorta upset today, since going into the show ring, up against a weim, that was well over the height standard. It wasn't a point show, however, it still made me angry that the judge ignored a direct inquiry by one of the competitors (who is a champion currently) as to why the dog was aloud to compete....By the way, the dog took best of breed! |

I'm sorry. That would be frustrating! It's not the first time I've heard of a dog being too big, but still winning. I guess if it's nice enough in many other aspects they are willing to overlook it? But I don't think that it's fair.
At least it wasn't a pointed show, I guess? |

If it was only an inch, it should not be DQ only penalized. Anything over or under standard by more than an inch is specifically spelled out as a DQ. |

| Size deviation is not a huge issue in showing. If that dog is superior in more ways than 1 the judge may overlook the fault of being a bit too tall and put that dog up. It is not a disqualification for being too tall or too short just merely a fault. it is a VERY political world out there. Some I agree with and others I don't!!!! |

In the AKC show ring, being too tall or small is a disqualifying fault, not just a regular fault.... You do have a 1 inch margin outside the recommended height which is faulted but not disqualified, but if you go above or below that, it is a DQ...
That said, I agree about judges overlooking certain things, and the politics as well. Oversized especially is one that is overlooked. |

Another thing I just overheard is to always check the cut sheets before you leave the ring. I heard of a judge not excluding the dogs that didn't show up so his friend could get a major. Once the judge signs off on the final sheet its too late to make any changes.
I am so glad we are almost done with this. |
