| My boy Sterling (11 months old) has a little cut on the end of his ear that I cannot get to heal as he flaps his ears and knocks the scab off. It heals very quickly but about every other day he knocks it off. Its about twice the size as when it started and I've tried a lot of treatments. The Vet said good luck, its frustrating. I am! Help?!!! |

| If it is small enough, you could try some coagulating powder, the kind you use on their nails.... |

| Thanks! I have tried most of those types of things. Currently I am using a product "EMT" that someone reccomended and it really seems to help seal the wound well but Sterlings a big boy with big ears and he creates a lot of torque when he flaps. |

This really isn't anything that I have tried, but it just came to mind. There is a product for humans called New-Skin. It is a liquid band-aid. When I was pitching a lot for softball, they skin on one of my crucial fingers would get cut by my fingernail from the pressure. Let me tell you, it hurt a lot, but I put some of this stuff on before the game, let it dry (Very Important), and it would work like a charm! They have a spray and a liquid applicator (similar to fingernail polish).
Read the warning labels though, since it is a human product! |

| Thanks for the tip. I have tried that product also and its good, it really sealed it up well but he just whips his ears around as they have a tendency to do and it breaks it off, or cracks it. My Vet said its not a good idea to tape his ears or bandage them as they will scratch at them when you are gone with their feet and then you really have a problem with additional damage. Its a tough one to fix! |

| I use a scarlet oil on my dogs cuts and sores. You can get in an aerosal can called "Scarlex". It's actually for wound dressing on horses, but works wonders on dogs too. |

Okay, this is going to sound strange, but we had this problem once and the vet said to take starter fluid and spray it on the medical tape so it would stick to his ear. It worked like a charm!!
We came home one day to find Yukon on the front board DRENCHED in blood. His entire head was covered and he was dripping all over the porch. I thought he's cut his ear off or something, but after we hosed him off, we found it was the smallest cut on his ear, but it was one of those cuts that wouldn't stop bleeding. And it was on the edge so every time he would shake his head it would make it worse. We couldn't get anything to stick to it. We used the EMT but needed to figure out how to get a bandage to stay on his ear. We used the starter fluid and it worked perfectly. We took it off after about a day so it could breath, but by then it had scabbed and begun to heal. |

| you can also make him wear a snood, so he cannot flap his ears. |

| you can try what the vet did to tommy when he had surgery on his hear. he put put a bandade on on the ear, then he flipped it and put it on top of his head and then he put bandade all over his head. we also put an ecollar so he couldn't scratch. it worked pretty well |
