Hi - can anyone out there tell me if they have ever experienced their Weim having an itchy mouth or snout? My poor Rudy keeps rubbing his mouth and snout with his paws - off and on all day. I'm assuming it's an allergy to something but haven't figured out what it is. It just started this spring - hence the allergy - but Benadryl doesn't seem to be working (vets recommendation). He's always had a sensitive stomach but never his skin. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you noticed when he rubs his nose is he usually excited. he could just be spreading his scent. if that's not it take him too the vet again definitely and ask about allergy shots I had to give that to one of my older dogs

I'm surprised that benadryl didn't work. Is there anything that might be new to his surroundings? Like fertilizer, cleaner, new food, fabric softener or detergent, air freshener? It would be best to establish the cause before the meds. You might find can just get rid of the cause or it might just be spring allergies. How old is he? It's not bothering the others?

He's two and my three other pups are not having a problem. I did change his dog food a couple of months ago but this just started. The vet didn't think it was related but maybe it just took a while to cause the allergy to develope? Nothing else has changed - other than the season. I have a follow-up with the vet tomorrow so maybe she'll have something more for me to try. In the meantime, I'll just keep helping him by rubbing his nose for him (he loves it!).
