I picked up a weim last night who is 16 months old. The pro's are she is the sweetest in the world, great w/ kids, loves everyone.
The cons are : She is 16 months old, never had a leash, left outside, she is very skiddish around us. I know she has never been abused however it concerns me that she is very squeemish.
She is in heaven w/ my puppy (12 wks). Is it too late to train her? Will it be hell? I will keep her inside as we do w/ our other babies. Please advise |

jut give her some time. when we adopted lakshmi, we were told that she could be depressed for a while.
this is a big change for your dog, she is in a totally new and strange situations.
give her time, and be patient, and she will be forever grateful.
treat her like you would a puppy, be very consistent with house training, leash training etc.
praise her whenever she does something right. and be patient.
this is all new for her.
thank you for saving her! |

| yes, please give her time. I take it she is a rescue since she is 16 months?lots of things could have happened to her to make her skittish. she needs time to adjust. maybe an obedience class would help they are never to old to learn, it might take a little longer . I take mine through a class every once in a while just for the socialization of the dogs, plus it helps me to keep the things i'ved trained my dogs fresh in my mind. they love dog class its a lot of fun. |

| Hemi is a bit nervous too. I think with effort and consistency, she will be a great pup! Just keep at it! |

When we brought Gracie home she was very skittish as well. It just took time, as everyone else has said, for her to get comfortable. It was about a month before she stopped being so nervous and skittish. She can still be skittish at times around new people, but we just keep working with her and each and every time it gets better and better Can't wait to see pictures!! |
