|
|
I built a pigeon trap with the pigeon bobs and two doors, one on each side. I must of messed up because they would go in one door and out the other. Actually a lot of the dove seem to get in and out and eat all the seed. I have heard you can put a fake owl for the crows, but what about those dove?
The one time I did trap a pigeon .... well lets just say my wife let the dog out before I checked it and she had her bird that Thanksgiving morning.
I am interested in building a new trap, one with out the pigeon bobs and any tips on feed that might attract just the pigeons. The doves really liked the crack corn feed. |

| If the birds are able to go out the bobs, I would guess they are installed incorrectly. Do you have a pic? |

It's probably the small dove getting in and out eating all the crack corn feed. The pigeons might just be too smart to go in... Did I really say that, "smart pigeons?!?"

| To start you must condition the birds to the trap, this is usually accomplished by flipping it upside down so the door rods fall down forming a ramp. Then feed for 1 week this way and watch to see if the birds are going in freely...once they are feed for 1 more day then flip that baby over and you should have a full trap the next time you go to get it. |

Starlings and sparrows will rob the traps blind too.
Your trap should work quite well. |

Has anyone else been interrogated by the state police while capturing pigeons under an overpass in the middle of the night wearing headlamps and holding a 12 foot long net? It has happened to me twice. Kind of embarrassing.

-They have more important things to worry about...LOL!
However out here, I'm positive I'll catch their attention. -Nothing really goes on up here in Flagstaff that warrants their attention for too long. |

Well in the defense of the State Troopers, they were having a little bit of a hard time keeping a straight face during the "interrogation". I guess we probably looked pretty silly!
That is why I love this forum. I tell this story to any one else and they just don't understand. I tell it here and everyone is like "Oh Yeah!" |
