| Quote: | | H20: The canvas dummy has just been for playing, we just happened to have an old one around and she has always loved fetching it for us. Luck have it we actually won one of those dead fowls (mallard) at a silent auction our NAVHDA chapter held a few weeks ago... we weren't sure what to do with it so it's been riding in the trunk of the car since then! Will it matter if we train with a duck looking one if we will mostly be relying on her to retrieve pheasants, or should we see if we can exchange it for the pheasant style? When you say "CC" you mean Choke Collar I am assuming? |
CC=check cord.
The mallard will be fine, as long as your dog has the mouth and neck muscles built up to carry the weight. Your dog is close to an adult, so should be fine. The object used for training really doesn't matter. It is the concept you are teaching. I've seen retriever trainers use bricks wrapped in duct tape for training. When she's trained, she should pick up anything you tell her to. |
