Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and I am really concerned about what food I feed my Weimaraner, Grady. He has been on Science Diet large breed dog food ever since I got him when he was a puppy. Recently I have seen stuff about how you are supposed to feed your dog all natural foods like Wellness and Gold Standard. I am just so scared to switch foods because I don't want anything to happen to him. Does anybody have any suggestions about food? He also has a sensitive coat, so that's another reason I'm scared to switch. Thanks

How old is Grady?
Jaeger is 7 months old and I am feeding him Eagle Pack Holistic Select Large Breed Puppy Food. We had a little trouble finding the right food for him at the beginning (sensitive tummy and skin) but have now settled on this. He's thriving (and pooping) better than ever before
Many other weim owners here feed Canidae All Life Stages which is supposed to be a really good food too. (but I can't get it where I'm at and EP Holistic is the next best option)
How is Grady doing on the Science Diet? I wouldnt change foods just for the sake of changing. Jaeger's littermate Aaro has been raised on Science Diet and is a very healthy looking pup. If he's doing fine then I don't see a reason to switch |

hey, Sorry it took me a while to post- I'm very green Anyway, Grady is 2 and a half years old. He's been on Science Diet large breed ever since he was a puppy. He is really lathargic lately, and his poops are not consistent. One day he'll be constipated and the next it'll be a lot. Most of the vets here where I live are oblivious to any other food than Science Diet because they sell it, so it does no good to ask them. I will certainly look into the Canidae. I got scared when I read somewhere that a lot of commercial dog food companies put whole parts of the cow or chicken into the dog food (like their beaks, feathers, heads, etc...), so that's another reason I want to find him the best food. I've also considered cooking for him, but I barely even cook for myself, so I don't really see that happening. |
