| Has anyone tried cooking for your weim? I am so frustrated trying to find the best holistic food for Grady that I am seriously considering cooking for him. Oprah does it for her dogs (or her chef does it), so that's got to be the best way, right? |

| I have a hard time cooking for myself, let alone Uno, but usually I end up mixing various healthy human foods for him, but more so as a treat then main dish, like low sodium veggie soups, chicken, whole grain pasta, etc. Right now hes on Orijen kibble, innova evo canned and raw mostly. |

i have cooked for vishnu for a few months at a time. it was a lot of work, and half my fridge was filled with dog food. sometimes he would get cooked food, and i would eat yogurt, since i did not feel like cooking 2 meals....
he is actually doing better on the wellness lamb with yogurt and oats. |

My brother was a Sous chef at the restaurant he works at. Now he is the GM. For about a 2 months we would cook our own food.
We would get beef hearts, livers, salmon skins, broccoli, carrots, garlic, and yams. We would semi cook the meat and puree the ingredients and mix them with rice. Spread the contents on a cookie sheet and bake till cooked. ONce cooked, cool and gut like small brownies.
The time we had our dogs on the food, the whites of their eyes were bright and the energy out the roof. They loved it. We were cooking for about 6 dogs and people wouldnt pay to help on the price. So we stopped.
I would like to pick it up again sometime.

It will be time consuming to cook. I may try mixing good quality human food that is safe for dogs with a good quality food. I just have to find one besides Science Diet. Also, has anyone heard of giving your weim fish oil supplements? I heard it gets rid of dandruff and makes their coat shiny. I wonder if it is harmful though?? Thanks for all the great tips everyone! |

I feed Salmon oil to Gunther, he was biting at himself, it seems much better now.
Check out Omas Pride, human grade raw food, thats what I feed. |
