The Scooby/Erbenhof litter has been very impressive; I'll be watching their careers. I can't say I am displeased with Sascha either. |

| I've been handling him but this last trial he was handled by Shirley Hansen of Outdoors Kennels as I want him to learn to handle for others and also for me to observe. He made me scout like a maniac though!! LOL He pretty much places in almost everything he's in and has all breed placement at 6 mos and is already FC pointed. He's a good boy. |

I agree with Anne, pen raised birds can be a little risky, I have tried to train Rosie on only wild birds. It is very hard to do as it creates long gaps in bird exposure. Anne, I think you helped me figure out Rosies line, her Sire is Briarmeadow Discovery who is out of Outdoors rising sun and Windchymes. Her mother is I think out of Briarmeadow sunshine abigail and a Sgt Shultz/Rieterelm sun who Steve Renolds used to trial. My good friends Ned and Adele Olson just gave her to my daughter Anna. (Anna is 8 years old and we are going to try to get her trained up together):>) Ned never trialed her mother but is a avid pheasant and quail hunter. Since we are using all wild birds, it is taking a little longer to get her broke, but she is broke to wing most of the time at present, and I will try this fall with Anna to break her to shot if she seems ready.

Oh ok you are the one that was asking about Windchyme.
Wow those are some awesome dogs in Rosie's pedigree. I love talking to the Hansens (Outdoors) about all their dogs. Nothing like having lots of time with the old timers and listen to them reminisce. They are my good friends and mentors and also the breeder of my boy Riley, DC Outdoors Life of Riley, CD SDX RDX VX2 TDI (ret) NAVHDA UTIII. They've finished upwards of 30+ field champions including a Dual and of course produced my Dual, he is 1 of 12 living Duals right now.
Sunny (Outdoors Rising Sun) was out of Jake (Andick's Big time Jake) and Tony (Outdoors Tony Lama), probably one of the most influential field litters in history. Tony still being the #1 top producing field dam. She died at 17.5 and it has been my priviledge to have met her. The Hansens did the Jake/Tony breeding 3 times. Tony was produced by their foundation Outdoors Boots and Laine's Thor von Timebomb. As Judy mentioned on yahoogroups, Buck is out of Windchyme and Jake. And I just loooove Buck puppies. He died recently.
Here's a photo of Tony with her futurity trophies:
That's so great that your daughter is going to train Rosie together with you!! You guys will have lots of fun I am sure!! |

Yep that was me Thanks for the info on that pedigree. I never really paid any attention to the pedigree on Rosie since she was a freebee.
Actually, I have seen her sire, he is Briarmeadow Discovery, and I am good friends with his owners George and Sharon Sturm. Ned and Adele were so nice to give Anna a pup, in fact, they gave her Pick of the litter. She picked Rosie, and the rest is history as they say! Tony Lama was quite a dog, I actually saw her run a few times, and she won first every time except once, and it was in a big all breed stake up at Fort lewis in Washington. She was called back for first and her gunners missed 4 times in a row if I remember correctly not 4 shots, but 4 times with each gunner shooting twice and she stood thru each one like a statue. on her 5 bird they finally hit it and she made a perfect retrieve, but the judges threw her out saying she broke. I didn't even see her move on that last bird but apparently she was pointing with one foot up and put it down before Tom sent her and they threw her out for that, not even a placement. That is the only time I believe I have witnessed shady judging but it sure seems like they were trying to eliminate her. She sure made it hard on them though! I thought Tom was going to explode when he heard the placements. |
