Callie is new to us as of this weekend, and so far is is fine with our 4yo daughter (Lil' Pfunk). Mostly Callie is a very mellow personality and is gentle. However, Callie thinks that my kid is another puppy and has not yet learned not to jump on her, etc. She doesn't jump on me or my husband so much, she just gets excited with Lil' Pfunk and wants her to play.
Anyway, this morning I was trying to get Lil' Pfunk dressed, and Callie comes busting into the room and made a beeline for her. Lil' P was naked as we were just about to get her underwear on her and I am not kidding you, Callie started trying to lick Lil' Pfunk's, ummmm....butt crack. Of course Lil' Pfunk was like "What the????" I got Callie out of there and explained to Lil' Pfunk that Callie thought she was also a puppy. Has anyone else had anything like that happen? Other than just trying to keep Callie out when getting my kid dressed, how else would I prevent a thing like that? I just didn't see that coming at all! |

just say our male puppy likes to stick his snout in womens who whos as my wife calls it. I shouldn't laugh but I silently chuckle when he does it at the dog park . Not sure how to curb the behavior (for him), for your daughter how old is she, 4? To young to start training, but maybe she can hold leash while you give the pup commands. |

Wow, our pups seem to have a lot in common - I just answered your other thread.
My male does this to my three year old. I just keep pushing him back w/ my forearm, making him sit and telling him no. She is also telling him to sit. We make it a point to have her 'train' him w/ us, where she gives commands and the treats, and he seems to be learning to listen and respect her as well. When she tells him sit or no, he generally listens to her.
As for the jumping it does get better. We had to teach DD not to run with her toys above her head screaming Floyd-y, Floyd-y at the top of her lungs. We also grab him and tell him no jump etc. Generally now he'll trot after her, but he rarely jumps on her unless she's running w/ his toys above her head.
And yes, my male also has his nose up my butt ALL the time. |

| We call this this the "DNA test"! Our female is much more committed to this than our male, but it could be she's just the right height! |

None of my dogs do this...I never realized it until I read this thread. They will try to jump and they do mob anyone who comes in.
Although, when I am getting their food ready...Jake barks (drives us nuts) Scout barks along with Jake and Silkie spins...Gunnar will stand right behind me and poke me in the butt. He isn't sniffing, he's poking me to hurry up....it is so funny. Because I'm usually trying to quite the barkers so I really don't pay too much attention to him poking me. He makes his point without getting yelled out. |
