I am sure that this has been asked MANY times before, but I am thinking about getting a prong collar for Angus. My first question is, will it injure him in any way, and the second is, what size do I get him? He is a 3 year old male Weim and weighs 77 lbs.
Thanks in advance! |

| Just out of curiosity did you try the Halti gentle leader. My dog used to pull my arm out of socket until the vet recommended this. Works great for mine but I know some people can't get it on their weims. |

You are absolutely right.. this has been discussed several times. If you go to search on the main page and type in prong you will get all your answers and also a great link to properly fitting the prong collar.Hope this helps. |

| Prong is the way to go, atleast in my opinion. It only pinches them if they pull, so no it won't hurt them. I tried the halti with my other dog and that was a complete nightmare! |

| There is a great link on here somewhere on how to fit a prong collar. It is VERY helpful (even I was able to do it after reading it). Their appearance is MUCH worse than they actually are. They're quite humane, and it works wonders for Kam, too. |

Im With Jkashlak, If you haven't tried a halti give it a go. They physically can't pull. Cooper went from dragging me around obedience class and being the class clown to being one of the most obedient dog there in one week.
It may not work for all dogs but it's worth a try. |

I agree about the prong, it's worked best for me.
I even got those rubber tips because I was afraid it hurt her too much. however, those really made her pull more. |

In my opinion, if you use the prong collar correctly, it works like a charm! Banshee was a rescue and came to me with a harness. I didn't like the harness, so I tried walking her without it. She pulled a LOT. Then I tried a prong collar, which is more humane than a choke chain, and I could pretty much walk her on a loose lead the whole time! As long as you don't keep tension on the leash and let them "pull" with the prong collar---and ONLY use when walking or training--I have found it to be a great training aid!
