She roams if she is left in the bedroom and she still takes a "nap" before bed even though I try to play with her and take her on a late walk, usually about 7-7:30 PM. Some people's kids!!!! |
Totally agree with you. Bailey is in the crate all day while I am at work. He is not crated any other time. He does not need to be since he is well behaved when we are home. Now when we are not home that is a whole other story. |

| Maisy hated her crate. She likes to sleep on her back all fours spread out! It's so funny and she couldnt' get comfy in the crate like that. She is housetrained and I will wake up at night to let her out (I check on my 4 year old) and she sleeps in the family room -- and sometimes ends up at the end of my bed. Honestly, she's messed in the house only once or twice -- I kept my eye on her at all times! When I go to work (part time) I left her out on our screened in back porch (we live in FL), but now she is great in the house. I leave her w/ plenty of toys, one special stuffed treat and she's great. |

Don't be talking smack yet We'll see the Cougettes in Eugene shortly (well, I won't out in CT but you know...). Just so you know, my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin all graduated from Wazzu so I'm used to talking to the impaired, feel free to ask me for help on anything |
Aww typical duck! We'll see what happens on the feb. 16! thanks for the help btw...how old is ur weim?
emma is getting more adjusted to her crate although i do wonder if she has separation anxiety? we've been feeding her in her crate and making sure she only drinks water in the crate. we have also tried calming pills...all natural and it seems to sooth her at night. Thank you for all the advice! All those weims out there who had is easy with the crate are very lucky!! |

| The key is don't only put them in the crate when you leave. They soon associate the crate with you leaving and then it becomes a SA issue. Duke is very trustworthy out of the crate and lately I haven't been putting him in his crate except for bedtime and when I'm gone. I noticed he started to whine (just a bit) when I put him in his crate. My fix is he needs to go in the crate MORE often throughout the day when I'm there. You'd be surprised at how well this works. It's really bad to only put them in there when you leave cause like I said then they associate the crate with you leaving. Put them in there MORE when you are at home. My daughter was having the same problem with her puppy and I told her to put him in there more while she's at home. Some very short periods and some longer periods....in and out all day long when you are home. And it really helps to cover their crate with a blanket too. In a few days she saw a huge improvement in her pup and Duke no longer whines at all. My Gracie (11 weeks) doesn't cry at all in the crate cause she's in and out all day whether I'm home or not so it's not a big deal. |
