I just don't know what else to do with Colt's potty training. He's peeing in the crate no matter how long I leave him. I bought a bellyband, and he got it off, peed in his crate and chewed it up.
I can't let him have run of the kitchen anymore, as he's proven that he will chew my house down....
I just dont' know what to do.... Crying or Very sad

oh, I went through this with Sterling too..just not this bad. I've don'e everything suggested, read about, etc.
I was presently trying to re-crate train him, and all he did was pee all over my floor in the kitchen, which was better than the crate, but then the other day, he chewed the crap outta one of my legs of my kitchen table even though I sprayed it with Bitter Apple. Let me emphasize that the MOST I have been out of the house since I've brought him home is about three hours...even if I'm gone half an hour, he'll do it. I have to be gone tonight for about 7 hours, and I don't know what's going to happen....

Do you have a dog run?
Honestly, after exhausting a ton of ideas, I would put him in a dog run whenever I didn't have him tethered to me.
He's lost his inhibition to not pee where he lays down apparently, which just makes the potty training impossible unless you are RIGHT there all the time. Which is also unrealistic. So dog run is the only thing I can think of now so you can go out and about and not have him make the habit worse, which is what is happening at this point every time he goes in the house/crate...

Fur Kids: Caseygirl, I have owned many Weims over the years and wouldn't have anything else. They are humans in dogs suits.

Hemi did that just to spite me. I tried everything. I even tested him, gave him about 5 minutes alone... and there it was, pee.

I stopped crating him (i know i know...) but I never had ANY problems with him.

I can't do this. He got out of the kitchen one tima and ate and chewed a BUNCH of stuff..
Is COMPLETELY trained outside of his crate. He rings the bell to go outside. It's just in his crate or in the kitchen.

I'm about to give up on him.... Crying or Very sad (not in the literal sense..I'm just so tired!)

Now, My JRT is having issues and is peeing and pooping in the house for some stupid reason...

They get TONS of exersize. I've never been in better shape since I"ve gotten the weims. They run off lead on the beach every single day for over and hour, sometimes two, get at least two 45-minute walks a day on top of play time in the yard with each other...

Can you pen him up in the bathroom, or another small area...??

yes. I started closing him in the kitchen to try to re-train him and leave his crate open, and he pees all over the kitchen floor....AND he chews my furniture.

I've tried shutting him in the bathroom by himself, he scratches the door like crazy to get out. I'm afraid if I do that, he'll tear the door down!

We had something similar happen with our little girl about 2 months ago....she'd had a UTI and had gone through 3 weeks of antibiotics, then about 10 days later she couldn't last 3 hours without going.

We spent countless hours and dollars running labs, tests, etc at the vets and NOTHING came out of it, besides talking with the breeder about it and surmising that it was separation anxiety, so we got a bigger crate (wire giant - seriously made for great danes) and there have been a couple more incidents, but knock on wood it is a LOT better. So, do you have a different crate you could try him in? Or borrow one from someone to see if it makes any difference?

Other than that, the best advice really I can give is to just keep trying different things, anything to keep his mind off the fact he is kenneled and not with you - favorite toys, bones, frozen peanut butter in kong....whatever. Also, we began feeding our weim in the crate to make her "enjoy" it more, yes also under the premise that you don't sh*t where you sleep, so to speak!

Goodluck, I hope it stops soon.

Also, I second scmeg72 - we took anything out of the crate that would soak up pee, because they'll just bunch it up and push it to one corner and not care....

lol..done it, done it, done it...
I had ONE good incident yesterday. He went three hours without peeing.
No UTI, tons of toys, blah, blah, blah..not showing ANY signs of separation anxiety in the slightest..he's actually right along with my other weim..pretty independent and happy.
I'm just going to keep plugging along like I did with Sterling and trying different things. He's a smart dog...hopefully, he'll get it soon Smile
