Hello, I recently got a 7 month old weimaraner (first time dog owner). Her eye boogers (don't know what these are actually called) seem to be abnormal, but I thought I would check here first and see if I am over-reacting or not. I guess I should've taken a picture first. Does anybody have any suggestions as to whether or not this is a problem? I'll take a picture when she next gets them and post it then.

Thanks much, quignov (and Jasmine)

I would make sure she had no physical issues. There are a few conditions that can cause irritation and cause eye boogers. There is a condition where their eyelashes are inverted and cause irritation. Get all that ruled out. If their is nothing, give her one benedryl and see if that clears it up at all. Then you will know it is just allergies.

Logan gets them pretty regularly, but he's just 11 weeks. I asked about it and most people said if it's not running down his face constantly or all around the eye, and they have no other symptoms, it's probably just allergies and they're fine. I wipe Logan's eyes like 5 times a day cuz he gets little green gunk in the inside corner of them.

Greta has the same problem...the vet gave us drops to put in her eyes. We haven's successfully got a drop in there yet!! He also suggested finding what she is allergic to...food, laundry detergent, cologne, deodorant, etc... Can dogs be allergic to cats? Wink Laughing
