couldn't get pics to load, sorry. Miles the leper dog who gets all the funny syphilis had a racquetball sized growth in his upper neck we thought might be a salivary gland but we think after blood work and culture of material just a bacterial infection (he is on 4k mg day of keflex or however you spell it antibiotics).

I can't see the pics, but it sounds like swollen glands-type thing. Are you happy with your vet?

Our vet has mentioned that the lumps/knots are on her lymphnodes and that something might be going on such as an infection and they are swallowen. She has had them since she was 8 weeks old though so if that is the case then has she had the infection the whole time? That is why he put her on antibiotics (ciprofloxacin) to see if there is an infection causes all the problems with her blood levels and the lumps. But the anemia, which he said is slight, is the big ???

I don't know why the pictures are loading? I've trouble loading pictures from my laptop and my desktop computer.

Our vet isn't familiar with weims but he seems concerned about Kinley and finding out what is going on.

If the knots/lumps don't get any smaller, should we let the vet aspirate them? Also, Sterlingsmom asked if Kinely has had a runny nose, watery eyes, etc. Kinley has had a little bit of a runny noce inconsistently. But she is very playful, has a healthy appetite, and good bowel movements.

Thanks for all the input.

Did they aspirate and take a sample? Make a culture to see what specific bacteria it was to ensure they had Kinley on the best possible antibiotic? As I said, miles raquetball sized mass turned out to be bacterial and after two weeks of 4k a day antibiotics it is gone, they still want him on them for another 10 days though.

The vet prescribed the antibiotic based on the deficits he saw in her blood work.

There are three vets that practice together and when we went last week b/c the lumps were bigger, Kinley's vet wasn't in. The vet we saw just said "lets do her blood work up since she needs it anyways to be spayed, I don't think its a big deal"( I told Cory I wasn't comfortable with the vet's judgement b/c I felt like he was brushing us off, so we will not be scheduled with any of our vet's partners anymore) but our main vet called with the blood work results and didn't seem happy that his partner didn't aspirate the lumps.

Our vet said that if he didn't see any decrease in the size of the lumps by this week with the antibiotic, then he would want to aspirate them. He also wants to do more blood work at the end of this week.

Her lymphocyte count was 6,747.

The more I talk about this and wonder whats wrong with my baby the more sad and upset I get, and it makes my stomach hurt!

i think lola's lymphocyte count was 20-60K and higher.
her red count was low - details are fuzzy now, but her anemia was bad enough that we were very close to a transfusion most of the time. we stopped chemo when it stayed down for over a week and the prior treatment didnt do a bit to help her out.
i think your numbers are a fraction of what we were facing. take some sort of comfort in that... lymphocytes seem to go up for a lot of reasons - the levels we had were so high that it was all they really needed to diagnose... but yours are much lower, and probably due to another reason.

BUN is typically and indication of kidney function. However, I did look it up (since I'm at work) and it can indicate GI bleeding. There are so many things that it can be related to that you would really need other lab work. It could even just be related to dehydration. I think that the lymphocyte count is normal-at least it is in people.

Hey guys,

I've been out of pocket a little, my dad has been sick.

Kinley's lumps haven't changed and we have an appointment on Tuesday(after she finishes her meds) to run her labs again. Based on the blood work he'll decide what he wants to do next. So....I'll keep you posted.

Could you also keep my dad in your thoughts, he is in ICU!

Thanks for being so caring guys!
