Four month old Mika sometimes slips on our tiles and her back legs splay out each side so she's flat on her tummy. Unfortunately she can't get back up again without help and looks like some kind of sea turtle paddling around on the floor.
I'm really worried this might lead to hip problems later in life so try to pick her up as soon as I notice, but someone said to me the opposite - that if her legs can do that it means she will not have any hip problems later.
Has anyone else had this happen to their pup and did they have hip problems when then got older? |

Can you put some rugs/floor mats down?
Jaeger had little grip on his pads when we first brought him home and would slip around too, especially in our living room. We went to Ikea and bought a big rug and some floor mats and scattered them around. Now that he's bigger and has more grip, we're able to put the rugs away and he can run around without slipping around like he used to. |

| Yeah she has a big cheap rug that we got from Spotlight... that area is now designated "Mika's Room" and she prefers sitting on it to the tiles. In fact, she won't do some of her tricks like 'lie down' unless on the rug in case she slips. But we have a lot of open plan tiled area that isn't easy to cover with runners or rugs unfortunately. |
