Fur Kids: Used to have Sophie - Weimaraner

to have a friend for Sophie? Has anyone done this? I would hope they would play etc. and help with her separation anxiety. We have a backyard!

I just want her to be happy and I don't think she is.

How old is Sophie now? I know she is VERY active. A friend for her may help.

Gosh, she could probably use a playmate when she's a bit older, but I'd wait awhile until you've gotten some of her behavior issues under control. Sophie's given you a run for your money over the last few months, IMO, another would just make more work for you right now.

Sophie is five months. I was thinking about a two or three year old. Sophie does so well with older dogs.

That should be ok. I just know that I thought getting one that was a little older would be easier, but its not as easy as I thought! Esp if you're fixing what the other owner did (ie. NO TRAINING!)

I think if you are very careful about the rescue's temperament, it could be a good thing for little Sophie...and you. An older boy maybe 2 or 3 may be just what she needs. Weims are unique dogs. While there are a few that do well as only dogs, I think the majority of them love canine companionship as well as their humans.

I've been told that the local Weim rescue goes out of their way to train the weims so they will have a successful rescue and I know if I make sure that Sophie gets along with the new girl or boy they would help us with this. It's a win/win for everyone. I rescue and older dog, I get another baby and Sophie has someone to play with. She is not the girl who likes to be alone, I know that, I can sense that and it's not fair to her.
