4 weeks ago I was getting ready for work and Cooper was following me from room to room (as usual) and all of a sudden started to fall over and couldn't stand up, I tried putting him into a sit and he was like a rag doll. I assisted him to lie down when he rested his head on my lap for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile his eyes were rapidly moving from side to side very quickly. My partner rushed home, we took him to the vet.
After blood and urine work, results came back relatively normal and they diagnosed him with an inner ear infection - treated him with antibiotics and then onto a course of ear drops.
He has had no problems since, but was wondering if any of you had encountered this before.
As you can imagine it was very upsetting and I'm hoping it was nothing more than an ear infection. |

I knew with an ear infection it can throw them off balance, but the eye rolling is new to me.
I have had a dog with seizures before but he would drop to the floor and paddle and drool.
If you have confidence in your vet,you will be ok |

I've seen this several times when I worked for a vet. It was, in fact, and ear infection and gave the dog vertigo. The most severe case I've ever seen was a Schnauzer who was falling over and his eyes were darting back and forth and tearing. If you moved him too fast he would vomit. He was hospitilized and given a really strong antibiotic and was better within about 24 hours.
I'm sure your vet was right on. If you haven't noticed any problems since, I'm sure your pup was diagnosed properly |
