| IN ITALY WE USE MAINLY TILES, AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE IT'S EASY TO WACH, THEY CAN'T CHEW IT, AND IF ACCIDENTS HAPPEN, IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL, LIKE ON CARPET |

We got one with a texture to is so there is less slippage. It looks just like hardwood but will not scratch. We have found dried pee spots that Ollie left behind that I just wipe out with vinegar and water and we are good to go. No smells and the pee doesnt go through the cracks. We built our home 8 years ago with all carpet and ceramic tile. Three years ago we ripped out every piece of carpet and tile (except in the bathrooms) and replaced it with a cherry wood toned laminate and havent looked back since. We have raised a doberman and now a Weim plus two teenagers on this stuff and have not one complaint. I LOVE IT. We are finishing our lower level off and we are using the same throughout. I wouldnt have it any other way. |
What brand is this? I haven't had bubbling with pee accidents but when a heavy rain sat on it it bubbled. It is also scratched in some places from moving heavy furniture but not from the dogs nails. I do LOVE it regardless but if and when we sell our home we'll be putting it in again so I'd love to know of a better brand that doesn't bubble or scratch as easily. |
My husband doesnt remember the name (naturally ), but our neighbour across the street is the regional rep for the company (he got it for us at wholesale). I will find out for you tomorrow. |
Thanks! |

Apparently my flooring is a Canadian made product, not sold in the U.S.A.
It is Armak flooring...the "Roxston Collection" in Cappacino Cherry.
Hope this helps. Like I said, we love it. We have even had a party where the next day found a puddle from a drink on the floor and just wiped it up-no bubbling, no lifting.
I believe it retails for $5.99 or so a sq. foot. |

We have click wood flooring called PROMO click.
Environmentally friendly
Resists-impact,STAINS,household chemicals,fading,scratching,and burns.
We have this throughout the house with the use of runners and area rugs.It has a nice texture to it so not alot of slipping.
We are very pleased with this product. |

Is it online? A google for "promo" is kinda tough to dig through. |

I still live with my parents , so we have hardwoods mostly, then laminate tiles in the kitchen. If I could build my dream house, I am going to agree with the ceramic tiles & radiant heat (which my dad put in my bathroom & I love) Solves the cold feet problem then runner rugs to prevent sliding.

We just *today* finished laying tile in our living room. I am so excited! But I can already picture Anja & Gracie running full speed down the stairs, hitting the floor, and sliding into the pool table. We'll see how it goes. We're attempting to rid the house of carpet. We have hardwoods (DanniGirl I pm'd you about the finish), but we chose pre-finished hardwoods for the bedroom, hoping they'll hold up to the girls jumping off the bed. It's it crazy - we totally design our homes around our dogs and their needs. We all have some lucky, loved Weimaraners

| We put prefinished 1" oak in our house. The factory finish is more durable than any finish you can buy and only cost about 10 cents a square foot more than the laminates. |

Tiles with Radiant heat (just choose a darker grout), I've also heard good things about bamboo flooring, just have no first hand experience with it.

My friend has a new home,4 yrs old.She has radiant heat, and ceramic in her kitchen, dining room, hallway and foyer.
The heat is nice on the feet but the ceramic is so slippery if u have the least bit of wetness on your shoes.Snow on the bottom of boots is deadly.Don't miss the carpet when u come in from outside.
In her kitchen and dining room the grout is terribly dirty looking and some of her tiles are cracked around her patio door and others have chunks out of then from dropping things on the floor. And where her pieces of tile have gotten broken or chipped the floor looks filthy.
I think you would have to stop the dog at the door and wipe his pads extremely well if was raining out otherwise his legs would slide out from under him.I am sure of it. |

Yep, ceramic is slippery AND hard (I notice that with having small kids). Also it can crack. If you choose a darker grout, you won't need to worry about it discoloring or looking dirty. In our back entry, we have white ceramic with dark gray grout. Looks good, but again, VERY slippery when wet! We have original oak floors throughout the first floor---I like it. It is slippery when the dogs run and it does get a bit "beat up" looking, but I like that-adds character! |

I think the slipperiness (if that is even a word) depends on the type of tile. Mine is not that slick. I have radiant heating in the tile in the kitchen and all of the bathrooms. It's great for when the dogs come in muddy from outside, and they love laying on the floor in the winter. It is a great substitute when I don't have the fireplace going for them to lay next too. |

This is how my friends heat works...I think it's radiant heat...
She has a ranch type house,no basement.
In her slab of cement there are coils running through the cement and in these coils there is hot water running through them. Thus keeping your tootsies warm. Her floor is so warm as is the whole house. Her hydro bill runs about 400.00 per month. |
