Dry heaving....should I be concerned?

I notice that every other day or every third day [always in the morning] Duke gets the dry heaves a little. He doesn't seem to be sick at all and it's usually just once, maybe twice. His poops are normal. He doesn't like to eat in the morning so could it be that he's just hungry? Or just a case of puppy gut? I don't know if I should be concerned or not? He just started dry heaving in the living room and I told him to get outside - which he promptly did, but then he was outside in the pouring down rain dry heaving and I just felt awful. He's just getting over a case of Coccidia (about 2 weeks ago) and he was tested for Parvo at that time. With the Coccidia he was vomitting alot, not acting normal and had diarrhea, so I really don't think that's it?

Does he ever get any bile out?
My guess would be that he just has empty puppy belly. Most pups will actually vomit bile when they get this and it's almost always in the AM. It's just that they are young and get a bit sick when their bellies are empty.
Try giving him a small snack before bed and see if this helps.
It odens't sound like coccidia or parvo. You'd know there was something pretty wrong with these 2 things.

Thanks Anne. Sometimes there is a little bit of bile. Should I try to get him to eat when he does this? I really just feel like it's because his tummy is empty. That is what my gut is telling me. I will try the late night snack too. I'm starting to notice that he has a pretty sensitive stomach and am wondering if the treats in the afternoon/evening the night before might be contributing. I only give the treats after he's eaten some food, so he doesn't fill up on them-although I have really cut back on the treats.

Yes give him a little food when he does this, but if you give him a small snack before bed, you can prevent it. It's totally normal, lots of puppies do this.

Thanks Anne! I will have to put something enticing in the food to get him to eat a little in the am. And will try to get him to eat a late night snack too.

I cant get Riley to not eat.
She doesnt do large meals - literally every time she comes in from outside she grabs a bite or two... sometimes I think its just a kibble or two, and munches on them.

That's ONLY in the morning. In the afternoon/eve he eats quite well. For some reason he doesn't like to eat in the morning though? It's strange....I just gave him some food with a little chicken broth and he had no problem eating it. I'll have to start doing that. At night I give him some yogurt with his food.

Yes I will try pumpkin. It is cooked plain pumpkin in a can right? With no sugar or additives?

Sounds like he's being a bit of picky eater.

Pumpkin, plain, no additives. You could even just give him yogurt in the AM.
