i sent her a PM earlier and she responded - after she said she had abandoned the site... so hopefully she continues to check it - or at least responds to your email.
what a wonderful fit if you can adopt her!
were my other not the exact same age, I would have considered her as well - I just need to get two that are slightly different in age at this point.
fingers crossed for all of you!

I hope you do, too! I've read about a "rescue railroad" of volunteers who will transport a dog to her new home. I'll try to find a website and link. I'm leery of sending dogs on planes -- I've heard too many bad stories, I guess.

Luv,
Julie and Morgan

OK Folks,

Firstly, I have different take on this situation:
Melissa feels Abby is being short-changed in the attention and love she deserves and openly admits this to us and HERSELF. I'm sure this is very difficult and would be difficult for all of us but, our human children come first. Including my own.
We all know this breed needs plenty of attention, they cannot be relegated to kennel life or anything short of being of member of the household.
Would it be fair to Abby to wait until things change in 6 mos, a year or 2 years?
I had a Cocker for 7-8 yrs when my sons were born and they were highly allergic to her and she was banished to the garage, laundry room, etc for months until we flew down to Fla to spend another 8-9 yrs happily with my sister. In spite of this, my sons talked about this dog for many years and when we felt they were old enough we spent time with several Weimie litters to be sure there were no allergy problems before we got Gunnar.
I am in contact with Melissa to try and make this adoption happen. I hope we can assure Melissa that Abby will have a good hom with us and we fully understand the needs and wants of Weimies.
I just hope Gunnar isn't too jealous!

Sincerely,

G

yeah, after the PM she sent me, its obvious this is very hard on her - never easy giving up a dog - but if they are in a bad situation, and you recognize that, then at least she has the courage to try to make things better. i hope things work out!

Shoot...
Melissa, if you are reading, I have been absoutely swamped with my field trial this weekend... please remind me to send you those docs that I mentioned by PM. Best way to reach me is by email anne@touchstoneweimaraners.com.
Hopefully this has been resolved already but if not, please email me.

My weim is like my child I could not get rid of her even if she needed to be carried around all day in a sling! I wouldnt get rid of a child so its the same for my dog.

Sometimes we are forced to do what is in the best interest of the dog.

Abby appears very happy in our home and we're happy to have her.

Yes, everybody wins.
Abby & Gunnar continue to progress. Fortunately no major issues. It's kinda funny, Abby is pushing a toy right in Gunnars' face while I'm typing enticing him to play. Earlier today Gunnar used Abby as a stepstool to reach up to me, kinda like in the circus.
Abby is very sweet and while she has a "hard mouth", she is not a biter.

Would you be willing to ship her? I could take her and would love to but would not be able to pay her shipping/air fee.
