| Our ten week old Weim pup has a neck lymph nodes about a size of a small grapes or "malt balls" . The vet told us that it is a symptom of "puppy strangles", or juvenile Cellulitis and prescribed steroids with antibiotics, and told us, if the size goes down we can decrease the dose. I researched that illness and found out that enlarged lymph nodes is only one of the other few more typical symptoms.(Our pup does not have any other of them). I am not a big fan of giving the steroids to a puppy, so I would like to decrease the dose but I am not sure what is the normal size of the neck lymph nodes for a Weimaraner of that age. |

I guess I'm a little surprised that the diagnosis was puppy strangles with only the symptom of enlarged lymph nodes?? There are other reasons lymph nodes can become enlarged...
It's hard for me to recall how large puppy lymph nodes are since they are usually unnoticeable until they get large, so hard for me to answer your question.... |

| Does your puppy have any bumps or redness on the face or head? My puppy went to the vet this morning because we noticed some bumps on her head. The vet said that her lympnodes were swollen a bit but that they couldnt give a difinitive answer as to what they are yet (but they did mention puppy strangles). Jazmin also had an ear infection a month ago and that caused swollen glands. Have you taken a look at her ears? Are they swollen at all? |
