sorry just having a vent hope nobody minds
the dog owners in England get right up my nose!
they don't clean up after their dogs and the worst thing is don't/wont tolerate other dogs.
today on a walk poor Charlie saw another dog he wanted to say hello to and have a little play the owner saw Charlie coming and promptly put their dog on their leash and walked in the other direction. uh
poor Charlie just wanted to play this isn't the first time its happened Charlie isn't scary or doesn't dive at them he just walks up calmly, so why do it?
are other dog owner the same all over the world?
we even met (for the first time in 4 months) another weim owner who wouldn't let his male play dragged him off (the weim would have stopped for a play too)
thank goodness for the only play mate Charlie has a little mongrel rescue who lives round the corner they play 2-3 times a week while us owners have a chat and a nice walk.
it's just a shame other dog owner feel the need not to let their dogs socialize together. |

| I agree. Some of the other dog owners can be real big doofers but thankfully most of the other owners&dogs at the dog park we sometimes go to are pretty nice and normal |

| I think other dog owners are missing out. Letting dogs play is a great way to wear them out! Besides, it is so good for their socialization. |

Makes me wonder if they're like that with their children playing with other "strange" kids. It's a pity they deny their kids (dog ones ) the pleasure of being kids. |

| I usually cross the road if I see another person coming with a dog not because I dont want them to play, but uno scares other dogs, he jumps on their backs and the owner ofter freaks out. But thats his play tactic. |

I took Sophie to a dog park today to find out they are closed on Wednesdays, so I went to a park near us to let her run. We saw an older couple with a small dog coming our way.
It was funny, the man was on the board of the dog park that was closed! He said to go ahead and take Sophie off the leash (their dog was off leash, an older jack/poodle mix) and let them play. He was so sweet, he said his dog would correct her and that really they can take care of themselves.
It was so awesome! Their little dog put Sophie in her place and it was cute how much she just wanted to play! I'm so sorry to hear you have such stuffy dog owners. I guess maybe since I'm in SoCal it's different. |
